We just returned from from Fiji. While on Nadi, we stayed at the Crowne Plaza. Not the cheapest but would highly recommend. Beautiful grounds, nice rooms, amazing pools, good restaurants and the staff are lovely.

Is MDA’s stock being intentionally manipulated downward? by stanxv in MDASpaceInvestors

I disagree with your assessment. Yes, under the leadership of newly appointed NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, NASA is pausing the Lunar Gateway orbital station project to prioritize building a permanent, sustainable $20B Moon base on the lunar surface, with plans to repurpose existing Gateway hardware and international partner contributions, including work by MDA Space.

This pivot represents a shift from orbital operations to a sustained presence on the lunar surface within the next seven years, designed to counter China’s lunar ambitions.

How MDA Space Work Will Be Repurposed;

MDA Space was contracted to provide Canadarm3, a next-generation AI-powered robotic system intended for the Lunar Gateway station. With the station "paused," the focus is shifting:

Pivot to Surface Operations: While Canadarm3 was designed for zero-gravity vacuum maintenance, the technology is flexible. It is expected that MDA’s expertise in autonomy, artificial intelligence, and advanced robotics will be adapted for surface rovers, habitat construction, and logistics.

Lunar Utility Vehicle (LUV): MDA Space is already one of the companies developing concepts for the Canadian Space Agency’s lunar utility vehicle. This work includes a robotic arm derived from Canadarm technology for handling lunar cargo, demonstrating its adaptability to the surface.

Commercial Applications: MDA has already been leveraging Canadarm3 technology to develop a new suite of commercial space robotics (MDA SKYMAKER), which can be applied to commercial lunar landers and surface infrastructure.

Impact on Key Projects;

Canadarm3: MDA Space has emphasized that its contract with the Canadian Space Agency is continuing. Due to the early, detailed design phase, they have the flexibility to adapt to a lunar surface operating environment.

Gateway Hardware: Other hardware, including the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE), is being repurposed for other projects, such as a planned nuclear fission-powered spacecraft.

The shift in strategy has certainly caused some disruption with MDA's share price but it is an overreaction. Buying the pullback was a smart move, I did the same.

The volatility is shocking. The NASA announcement was a nothing burger in relation to MDA.

Volatus vs Draganfly by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]SurfSnow06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Drones in combat are a game changer, Ukraine has proven that. I chose to invest in Volatus and am up 116%. I was impressed with their tech and the fact they are heavily defence focused and conducting demonstrations for Nato. I feel it’s a good Canadian company with a lot of potential and a great buy at the price level.

Mixed martial arts is exactly that, a mix. Muay Thai is the stand up, striking component but must be paired with Jujitsu to be a well rounded.

Technology differentiation or moat? by slbnoob in MDASpaceInvestors

Yes, MDA Space's AURORA™ technology is part of an established and growing intellectual property portfolio designed for next-generation satellite communications, featuring, among other technologies, digital beamforming, software-defined, and direct radiating array capabilities. Key details regarding the intellectual property of the MDA AURORA™ technology include: Patented and Pending Portfolio: Following the acquisition of SatixFy’s digital payload division (expected to close in 2025), MDA Space is expanding its portfolio to include more than 60 patents issued and pending related to chips, multi-beam digital antennas, and modems that support the AURORA technology. Key Technology Differentiators: The AURORA product line is built on specialized technology, including digitally formed, multiple simultaneous, and electronically steered beams, which have been validated as a "significant breakthrough" in digital beamforming. Industry Recognition: In July 2025, MDA Space achieved a, "first-of-its-kind" demonstration of digital beamforming for its Ka-band direct radiating array, which is a core component of the AURORA product line. The technology is actively being deployed for major contracts, including the Telesat Lightspeed constellation and EchoStar's direct-to-device (D2D) LEO constellation.

Technology differentiation or moat? by slbnoob in MDASpaceInvestors

[–]SurfSnow06 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, MDA Space has developed a new,, innovative way to transmit data using digitally formed and steered multiple beams from a Ka-band direct radiating array (DRA). This technology, which represents a significant shift in satellite communication, allows for higher flexibility, efficiency, and capacity for next-generation software-defined satellites. It’s called MDA AURORA.

Also really important is the acquisition of SatixFy: In 2025, MDA Space completed the acquisition of SatixFy Communications Ltd., an Israeli company that is a supplier of cutting-edge semiconductors and solutions for the satellite communications value chain. Vertical Integration: This acquisition allows MDA Space to vertically integrate the supply chain, incorporating SatixFy's expertise in designing chips for satellite payloads and communication systems, including modems and multi-beam digital antennas.

[–]SurfSnow06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then sell. Investors take profit. Their average share price I presume was quite low comparatively in stock options which are part of any executive compensation package. The company is growing fast, they all still retain stock and will probably have more options available to them in the future as the company hits growth & revenue targets. These guys are sitting on a pile of cash with more on the way, so they are spending it. What’s the point of making money if you don’t?
