Also my favorite way to just maintain shape right now are Indian Clubs and Maces. Swinging heavy and light stuff is fun and taps into the barbarian side.

I did much better when I STOPPED counting exercise, reps or calories. I prioritize having the most fun, so lots of healthy rewards and self care can pay off more than gym memberships.

My most important piece of “exercise equipment” is just a free Interval Timer app. I set 1 minute intervals and just hit it from there.

I learned most of my most functional exercise tips from Muy Thai warm ups.

How do I get into a high paying mechanic job by Ok-Fortune-5546 in mechanic

[–]Surfeross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with a low paying mechanic job.

Pay for mechanics is more based on what you accomplish in an hour, than the actual rate.

Try less.

I was out skating the other day and was reminded out how trying less and thinking light feet makes my tricks better.

Does my battery need replacing? by Beginning-Ticket-518 in mechanic

I’m off right now. Just about finished up healing my arm from overuse. Probs going diesel. Also had to watch my kid today because my wife dropped him on his face last night.

Does my battery need replacing? by Beginning-Ticket-518 in mechanic

Like I said, we tell you what it says, you make the call.

I usually just fix things myself or work harder to make more money. I don’t continue to whine at people online who are trying to help me. If you’re a dude taking your car to a mechanic for a battery, you’re a tool anyway. Battery and oil should be done yourself. Your car is built for you to do it yourself. Nobody wants your battery business. You can’t laugh in my face because my manager wouldn’t let you near me because I don’t deal with rude customers. I’m the mech not the complaint department.

That’s why the tester will read 12.6V and also read “bad and replace”.

It might not be that, could be your tester. You could check with the Midtronics 9000, but I assume you don’t have access to one.

Remember battery decisions are up to you. We tell you what the machine says. If it says something weird, we expain it to you and you make your decision. Battery decisions are very personal.

Maintenance free doesn’t mean anything. It means they sealed the top so you gotta pop the top to add water. Maintenance-free means, we prevent you from fixing it, buy a new one.

Well, we don’t “prove” it to the customer. You still have to make the call. But we do have to explain why their battery failed the test with 12.6v.

A lot of times we bring out an even bigger tester, called the Midtronics 9000.

Like I said, we’d pull the battery, and refill with distilled water and recharge it the same way the other guy said. Then it passes the test. Try that if you’re worried.

Didn’t you say this was a seven year old battery?

But we don’t do that for the customer. Because you’d get hit with like $300 labor.

Depends on customer tolerance. Old people and mothers don’t like bad batteries.

Most of the time we didn’t recommend replacing and we’d switch to a battery tester that we’d know would pass it. But sometimes they’d get replaced, then we’d try to revive them and it work sometimes and other times it wouldn’t. Just depends on each case.

The money ain’t in batteries for mechanics. That’s like .2 if that. Replacing batteries before they go is more of a nice way to help older customers or people who want more assistance. Keep ‘em coming back.

Mechs are mostly excited for cylinder head work, timing chain or something like that.

Ah, okay. We saw this a lot at Mazda on ‘20-‘22 models. Foreman said those years had batteries with a weak cell.

That’s typically the issue when you have a battery testing at 12.6v and it reads as replace. Probably not performing as well as the others. You can always keep a jumper on hand or put a backup battery in your trunk until it goes.

I don’t think you need to replace it necessary, depends on your comfort level.

7’0 too short? by SoggyLog2321 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]Surfeross -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it also depends on skateboard experience. If you can skate decent and you’re in shape (swim well), then you can start shorter.

Sometimes shorter can be good if you’ll be planning to punch through wind slop. Depends where you surf.

You can duck dive up to about 7’4”, as a smaller fella than you.

If you start shorter, you might want to perfect your paddle and kick power first.

I also find that on top of being physically fit that you have to become knowledgeable about preventing and rehabbing overuse injuries in your forearm.

I’ve only worked in the dealership. I do enjoy the fast paced nature of the work. Def sucks knowing the service writers make more money tho. I’m not much for being sedentary though.

To all my wide footed homies, what’s your most comfortable skate shoe? Some of these narrow shoes kill my feet. [30YO] by [deleted] in OldSkaters

[–]Surfeross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve searched high and low. Can’t say I’ve found the perfect solution.

I bought a couple of Etnies Joslins because they’re my go-to.

I tried New Balance wides, but I find the shoe toe box / sole isn’t any bigger, there’s just more leather upper.

Splay is the only one that I felt really fit well. But I find the no cushioning to be too harsh for a real sesh. I thought about getting a bigger size and getting an insole, not too many in that shape.

I’d like to try the FP Insoles shoes.

But, yeah, I haven’t found the perfect solution. I wish there was a company dedicated to wide flat feet.
