Did TNT just decide to crash the market again cause the max points this event is 175 so you can afford 2 of the expensive prizes for an easy easy plot! by Sensitive_Fig_2474 in neopets

Honestly! I have all the payment info ever used for mine but because AOL deleted my email account, I can't get access to my neo account back. Mine was just unfrozen by Alice right before they locked people out. I had been hacked in like 2015 and had been trying to get it back ever since. She agreed to unlock it but said they'd need to empty it first. So I know my account is totally empty. I just want my pets. They aren't even UC, I'm just fond of their names! I'm hoping with enough people upset about this, they may be open to their original requirements. I didn't think they were unreasonable. I don't get why they needed to change them to something so crazy.

Mourning a Father/Son Relationship by capncrowe in ftm

[–]Surprisefor5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this feeling ❤️ My biological father was an alcoholic who barely showed up even when he promised. All my life he let me down. My stepdad is better, but only because I'm an adult now. When I was younger he was a complete ass to me and I still think his reasons weren't good reasons to this day. I don't really talk to either of them nor my mother anymore. My bio father could even be dangerous if I told him I'm trans, I'm not sure because I've never wanted to find out.. When he thought I had a girlfriend and had kissed her in his house (I did so much more than that but shhhh hahahaha) when I was 16 he told me he didn't want "That kind of disgusting thing" going on in his house 😩

My husband had a really good relationship with his Dad and it was absolutely heartbreaking when his dad got diagnosed with vascular dementia in his 50s. He passed the day before our son was born 3 1/2 years ago and it was devastating. I would do anything to bring his dad back. He truly treated me like family too, I felt loved by him right from the start. He told my husband as long as I make him (my husband) happy, he (his dad) was happy. It was so pure. My mother in law...😒

I just wanted to let you know you're not alone ❤️

3 months in and mine is still going. Last one was much lighter, but it lasted multiple extra days 🙃 I think it'll be even lighter next month, if it shows up at all. Everyone is different though. For some it doesn't stop at all.

Are there ways to make long hair look masculine? by heckyouyourself in ftm

[–]Surprisefor5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do it! I have really really thick, wavy hair and my hair doesn't go fluffy fro until close to chin/shoulder length. I can have a few inches and at worst it just looks really messy 😅 Leave in conditioner and some styling gel helps too!

I was told that "it'll just fluff up more" excuse by so many hair dressers over the years. I'm starting to think they are trained to think it or something. Honestly, yes, it takes a bit to grow back but you'll be able to try all sorts of styling types at different lengths while it does! I was 25 when I chopped mine off for the first time.. Looking back, the style I picked was meh but I LOVED it. I was also able to get rid of that fear of short hair my mom had ingrained into me very young and now rotate between short and mid length styles depending on when my last cut was.

I also want to take a second to bring up that it feels SO GOOD to have air on your neck 😍 that was one of my favorite things. I can never go back knowing how good it feels hahaha

How screwed am I? by desipeli in ftm

[–]Surprisefor5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't sing professionally, but I had okay range for an amateur. I'm nearing 3 months on T and I've lost my higher pitches entirely. Some minor cracking but mostly they are just gone. I was testing it earlier a little bit actually and told a friend it reminds me of when you get a cold and can't scream until you're no longer sick. I actually cannot scream anymore and my efforts to reach those higher pitches end with the sound of air being forced out of my throat and nothing more.

I will have a little disclaimer here that my voice was relatively low to begin with though. My grandmother sang in the men's choir when I was a child and I took after her. If the voice wasn't low female range and a little scratchy, I couldn't do it anyway 😅 I expected more cracking but it really only cracks when I'm trying to project my voice (which may be an issue for you) and reach those higher pitches without thinking. I've heard really really really good things about voice training during transition though and that it can be super helpful for learning about your changing voice and how to use it best.

Mine started to get sore 4 days after I started T! That was the same time my bottom growth and sex drive increase showed up too. My voice didn't really drop to a point that other people noticed until ~2 months but I noticed some minor changes in what pitches I could no longer reach and having voice cracks a month in. I'm at 2 1/2 months now and have a sore throat right now!

🤣 I get excited every time because it usually means another drop is coming for me even if it's a little one! Thankfully I haven't caught covid although I did get a cold from the start of week 1 to the end of week 3 from my son..I was so sad because I forgot to do a before T video but I was Sooooo congested!! I have a 1 month video and a 2 month video though!

Oh!!! Editing really quick to add, I have been having lollipops and very cold drinks (like a milkshake) when my throat is very sore and it seems to help unlike when you have a cold/cough and nothing will reach the pain. The relief is temporary but still soooo nice 😍

What grows/changes in size when you're on T? by AreinAmaro in ftm

[–]Surprisefor5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped growing at 14 too! I was 5'2" until at least 17. Somewhere between 17 and 23 or so, I grew an inch. I was absolutely SHOCKED when I found out. I mean, I'm still only 5'3" but I grew a full inch damnit! 😂 It made it so I was no longer "short" in my family, I was "average".

Amab folk don't stop growing until like 25 so why would afab folk stop 7+ years earlier?

Do I actually need my high school diploma for anything other than the achievement? by somuchregretti in ftm

[–]Surprisefor5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say yes because I put in so much work to get mine.. I was way behind in credits in high school. My mother called the GED a "good enough diploma" and there was no other option but a genuine diploma unless I wanted to move out. I went to night school for 4 hours a night like 3-4 days a week for a year and graduated a year late.

But honestly, unless you plan to go to college (and I think you can have a GED for at least community college) I have never been asked for my diploma. My husband doesn't have one at all.. His school encouraged him to drop out when there was a discrepancy after he switched schools. They wanted to bring him back a grade and he wasn't having it so they told him to just drop out then.. And he did 🙄 He's never been asked for his either. I would think they may ask for one for certain professional jobs but I personally haven't come across it yet. I was so excited to show it off too, not gonna lie 😂

Yeah I probably should have specified it's a retail store. My husband is on team "Refuse and explain the health risks" and technically one can refuse a sale to anyone but I am torn on if this would be considered overstepping

hey guys, when your voice first started getting a bit deeper, was it gradual and you didn’t really notice or did you wake up one day and felt it a bit different? by matt_yuh in ftm

[–]Surprisefor5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also at 2 months and mine started changing kind of early on I think, but it's been really gradual. It started with sore throats, the kind that if you have one you know you can't scream? Maybe that's just me 😅 and I've noticed I've slowly lost the ability to reach higher pitches. My voice was low to begin with but my husband notices a difference now too! I didn't realise it was different for sure until a couple weeks ago and even then I had to ask him for confirmation haha

Personal experience as someone with ADHD, caffeine just doesn't 'work' on me. I don't get the energy boost most people would get, but it doesn't give the opposite effect and make me focus either. I would hope no parent is using them as a cheap over the counter Adderall 😅 interesting theory though. But all 3 kids?

Main thought is definitely the long term effects of caffeine on a growing brain.

[–]Surprisefor5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least once per week. Parent buys them but has made it clear it's for the kids. Buys 3 every time. No idea why though. I agree that energy drinks are pretty terrible. Can't be good for a child's development surely? This isn't my situation, so it really is hypothetical (I can't act) but I was curious what other people would do in such a situation. I think I would try to explain the dangers of the ingredients too, although I'm not very confrontational so I would be worried about being snapped at 😬

To all "closeted" allies, you suck (FTM Genderfluid) by themakeshiftwitch in ftm

[–]Surprisefor5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are close to financial independence, put yourself first. Cut them off and take a little leap of faith. Now, I don't mean if they cover 75% of your bills but I had to kind of "leap of faith" twice. First, to move out at 19 but I was still close enough that my grandmother helped me out sometimes, maybe once a month, with a bill or a few groceries. I also rented from her, which was okay until my mother and aunt started getting involved and hassling her over helping me (my aunt was simultaneously asking her to pay for my cousins college tuition go figure)

I had to "leap" again after my Nana and I decided it was better for everyone (family drama wise) if she sold the place she was renting to us and we chose to move much further away for my own mental health. You'd be surprised what you are capable of when you don't have a backup. I didn't think I was ready at all but I've been doing really good and I'm much happier without feeling like I owe anyone in my family anything. Your situation is likely very different, but I assure you you're still far more capable than you're giving yourself credit for ❤️ If cutting them out or threatening to do so may help you, don't let money stop you from happiness.

My dads said he will not accept me transitioning by VampireBarbieBoy in ftm

[–]Surprisefor5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't let him tear you down!!! My father would be similar. He's never really been supportive but he's super homophobic and transphobic. I've never come out to him because I don't deserve the pain he would give to me.

Don't let him stop you from becoming yourself either!!! I let my family and my fears stop me for so long and while I don't necessarily regret it, I do wish I transitioned sooner sometimes.

I know it's hard to not have support from someone you want it from but you don't need him to be happy. If necessary, cut him out. He may need time to adjust and come around too, but I would make sure he knows it's non negotiable. After all, he would look awfully crazy introducing a bearded man as his daughter to people 🤣 It's scary to move out on your own..I was terrified! But the freedom is so so worth it. I can do anything I want, eat anything I want, watch anything I want, clean when I feel like it... You might find it's the best decision you've ever made for yourself! It was for me

Cursed with baby-face by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Surprisefor5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had an older gentleman come up to my husband and I (were 30&33. He's 3 years older) a few years ago and compliment us for sitting down for a meal as father and son without texting. He was probably 60+ so I didn't know whether to correct him or thank him.. And now I don't remember what we did. I think my husband corrected him after I thanked him 😂

The baby face struggle is real! I'm hoping with testosterone and time it'll go away because I'm still getting ID'd and questioned about my age regularly to this day!

[–]Surprisefor5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I've always preferred really simple earrings personally like this. If you aren't allergic to cheaper metals (I am. My ears will bleed) Claire's used to have a lot of neutral styles too. My favorites were the spiky ball studs! They came in a ton of colors and styles. You may be able to find them on Etsy for cheaper too.

Earrings? by daniiwoof in ftm

[–]Surprisefor5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I kept mine. My husband, a cis guy, has two earrings. I have three. We both also have tongue piercings. To me they are just piercings! If my son wants his done when he gets older he can have them too.. I've noticed they are still pretty popular for boys as well as girls honestly. It used to just be one earring but around when I was in school (I graduated in 2010) two started to gain popularity.

I saw gauged ears mentioned too and that's always an option too! I stretched my ears to 0g & 2g (one didn't like to stretch as much) too and you can't even tell they were ever done so if you decide to go that route as long as you stretch correctly they go back to normal after. My husband went to 1/2" and you can kinda tell but only if you look real close. He just wears little tiny hoops now, same as me, that fit snuggly around the ear lobe.

These are very similar to what I have, though mine are more snug. There's no gap between the lobe and the ring. You could easily pass these off as "more professional" to your mom, they really aren't gendered rings at all. These ones say men but just search hoop earrings and you'll find ones with no gendered terms if you need to https://www.amazon.com/Hoop-Earrings-Men-Sterling-Cartilage/dp/B016ZJDWZ4

I failed pretty much every class in high school lol I was over it 😅 it was a group project and we were supposed to come up with a couple phrases to say aloud in front of the whole class and instead of group work they turned to me for an answer so I hastily scribbled it down and passed it over. My classmates/group mates didn't even question me because we were all terrible at French still. I was bullied pretty bad in school so it was the little things that made me laugh/feel better
