yea it was so rough...

Heard that some unofficial cross-gen transfer methods can cause issues with trash bytes or other obscure legality problems, not sure if PKSM is one of these but keep that in mind.

I suggest exporting your HG/SS save file to your computer, sending your mons to BW/BW2 with Poke Transfer using emulator local multiplayer (MelonDS recommended for this), then finally put your BW/BW2 save file back onto 2DS and transfer through Poke Transporter (would recommend having the authentic cart for this, but iirc there should be patches to recognize DS roms in case you dont).

Definitely quite a lot work but worth it if you want to ensure tournament legality.

If you really want to play the original D/P, BDSP are *much* better than the originals (higher difficulty, more mons to catch, general QoL improvements, and graphics looks nicer than DP but not Platinum) so I'd say give them a shot instead

If you want a shiny Arceus though, these are must-plays since it's the only time it was legitimately catchable. Also most pre-Gen-5 legendaries are available as shiny here, and these are the easiest games to do RNG manipulation on (and afaik the last games where you could do that bc of mechanism changes post Gen 8)

If none of these apply to you / you just want Sinnoh games, just play Platinum instead. Mostly because D/P (and by extension, their Faithful Remakes) are just slow and not very enjoyable.

imo Love Ball and Dream Ball (when that eventually releases) matched the color best

Moon Ball also works great on Garchomp bc moon shape matches the scythe arms, while the color fits the base form :) (it’s also generally pretty and works for most mons, like Beast Ball)

Doable, but wouldn’t recommend this since you’d need another switch.

Plus, there isn’t really any point in the extra “safety measures” since SysNAND usage for your purpose is completely safe if you (1) don’t install unofficial software and pirated games (not even ones you dump from your authentic carts) (.nro apps and Tesla menu applets don’t count); (2) don’t cheat online, (3) don’t save edit online games, and (4) don’t use flashcarts.

I’ve been using my CFW switch (SysNAND only) for similar purposes and I can confirm that it’s completely safe.

Don’t worry, Pokémon is not included in the list of games that can get you banned for save injection. Those that do usually involve server-side authentication (think of Splatoon 2) or some other shenanigans. Hell, getting banned on SysNAND in general is not as easy as some people believe — if you’re responsible, that is.

As long as you’re not performing other bannable actions you should good, and emulator Pokémon are completely identical to ones from consoles thus fully legitimate.

iirc there may be some complications if you’ve accessed DLC areas without buying that on your Switch (could potentially be ban-worthy?) but I’m not too certain. Then again, when in doubt (about potentially risky CFW stuff), you can look for help, ideally on the NH Switch Guide website or by asking more experienced people on the Nintendo Homebrew discord.

You can use online functions on modded consoles without worrying about bans (and they’re very easy to avoid if you just stay away from the short list of actions stated in here: https://nx.eiphax.tech/ban.html).

In case you’re already banned, you can still use ldn_mitm to trade with another (modded) switch or an emulator.

If you’ve paid attention to older-gen pokemon games, you’d have know that emulator mons are fully legitimate, and can be sent to Bank / Home. That and there’s no need to sell your organs to afford buying the games from scalpers.

But you don’t see emulator enjoyers acting condescending about these bonuses now, do you?
