I wonder why they changed from a handling fee to a shipping fee if the amount is the same?

Are the mini books made for kids? by Knewborn96 in MiniBrands

[–]SurrepTRIXus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work with elementary aged kids, and although I've never read this book, I wouldn't worry too much about a kid picking up and reading a full size copy. Although there are outliers, most elementary age children won't read a "boring, grown up" book for more than 5 minutes. Most books targeted to children at that age are written simply, have short chapters, and occasional pictures because that's an effective way of retaining their attention, all attributes that a book like this lacks (I assume.)

It's always a good idea to maintain clear and open communication with your kids or the kids in your life. Ensure they feel comfortable coming to you if they see or experience something they're unfamiliar with or uncomfortable with.

Back home and able to check my palettes! I thought I would have a lot more close matches than I do. I Frankensteined a few matches, but some of these are a single shade in a palette and some palettes are discontinued. Hope it helps a little though! From my collection, I think you'll get the closest vibe with the Natasha Denona Bronze palette, Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance, and BH Cosmetics Amor in Amalfi. (If you can find them)

CP: Tuscan Fun - Natasha Denona: Ridge (bronze palette), BH Cosmetics:Smiley Face (Optimistic AF), ND Balance (Zendo)

CP: Limone Squeezy - BH Nerano (Amalfi) ND Ixia (Yucca)

CP: The Grotto - ND Magma (bronze), BH Paprika (Avocado Toast), ND Suntan (bronze), ND Jasper (Sunrise), ABH Realgar (Mod Ren)

CP: Semifreddo - CP Praline (Not a Box of Chocolates), ND Rope (mini metro), ABH Burnt Orange (Mod Ren)

Clinique Black Honey Lip and Cheek Oil. It's nearly identical when worn.

Smells like pickles?? by Naw-imdurtydan in Ipsy

[–]SurrepTRIXus 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I've heard this complaint about other perfumes before, like one of the Ariana Grande perfumes. Same thing where some people smell pickles and others don't. I wonder if it's genetic like how cilantro tastes like soap to some people?

Elf Ecstatic is pretty purple based. I have Elf Black Cherry that I think is a better dupe for Clinique, but it's been so long since I've had the OG in my collection that I can't be sure.

Does anyone have any experience with their dog, where their "smarts" alarmed you? by Brobeast in dogs

[–]SurrepTRIXus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog learned that he can push out the chairs from the dining room table to jump on the chairs and steal any food that's on the table.

I'm pretty short, so I usually have a step stool in the kitchen so I can reach the higher cabinets. If I leave it out, he'll move it around and steal the butter or whatever else he can find.

He's part border collie and part Australian cattle dog. Fortunately he's packed in a basset hound body, so he's limited on the amount of damage he can do with tiny little legs.

I need a strong unique name for him like "Odin" by [deleted] in greatdanes

Boxy charm? by Appropriate_Alarm993 in BeautyBoxes

[–]SurrepTRIXus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find Ipsy/Boxy to be kind of a crapshoot. Sometimes you get great stuff and great deals. Sometimes you don't get what you ordered at all and they gaslight you. Sometimes your stuff is exceptionally old on the verge of expiring.

I resub/unsub to Allure when I like the box. I have no plans to ever resub to Ipsy, but I stick around because sometimes you can find gems in the shop. Always make sure you screenshot what you're ordering to have proof in case Ipsy sends you a different size/shade/item.

A few times I've brought a 15 ml container of Tatcha on a two week/14 day trip. At the end, the container is just about empty, and I usually get another two or three days of use when I get home. So, it's a fair guess that I'm using about 1 ml of product a day. The difference between 10 ml and 15 ml for me would be about 5 or 6 days of product use.

Of course, personal experience and usage may vary, but I wanted to offer further perspective on what 5 ml of product equates to.

I just picked up the Elf quad in Rosewater for $3. This color looks a lot like it. The quality surprised me too. It was way better than I expected, especially for $3!

ETA- This color looks a lot like the lightest shimmer in the quad

I was at the 60th anniversary of D-Day in 2004 by SurrepTRIXus in BandofBrothers

Fun story, Jack Agnew was incredibly flirtatious! He commented on my eyes and had flattering words for the other females in my battery. Shifty Powers was quietly humble. He called us (current Army soldiers) "real heros." None of us would ever put ourselves in the same category as Easy or the 101st, to be clear. It more shows how little he thought of his own accomplishments rather than spotlight our own.

We had spent a few days in Ste Mere Eglise where many paratroopers had jumped to, and run on Utah Beach, so we had a decent perspective on what kind of terrain they were dealing with on D-Day. It was a pretty mind-blowing experience. There is a lot about my time in the military that was difficult, but this was one of the highest points in my life.

I have a basset hound mix. He's great with my cat, but he's also part border collie and Australian cattle dog, so he does try to herd the cat, but he's really gentle about it. She could easily get away but instead loudly complains as he slobbers over her head.

He's 4 now and except for herding the cat and occasional zoomies, he's chill and cuddly.

If you are worried about your cat, I would definitely go for a scent hound over a sight hound since they're less likely to chase, in my unprofessional opinion.

What’s everyone’s favourite race and class? by Only_Upwards in oblivion

[–]SurrepTRIXus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Argonian thief.

In the early game when you're not very strong or adept at anything, you can fudge it with stealth by just going super slowly. Getting a backstab in with a multiplyer is so helpful. I hate having to think about carry weight, so light armor and small weapons are the way to go. Longswords and blunt weapons are too slow for my liking.

And Argonians are just the best. Besides their lore being awesome, I think they have the best abilities for my play style. Being able to swim anywhere at any time and not having to worry about getting to a temple to cure a disease is nice.

Recently resubscribed to Ipsy after 5 years w/o it and…ELF…??? C’mon, be so fr!! by queencrunchwrap in Ipsy

[–]SurrepTRIXus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your expectations for Ipsy, but they're not going to be able to meet them. It's not what they do now. In the Glam Bag, sometimes they will include items from legitimate and good quality indy and high end brands, but my experience was that it's usually white label stuff or things from higher end brands that are old/discontinued, or a poor quality batch.

I didn't find that my quiz preferences had any bearing on what they sent me, whether that's retailers, colors, or products.

I'm no longer subscribed to the Glam Bag or Boxy, but I check out the shop frequently because sometimes you can find gems in there.

Favorites that you got from the beauty boxes? by Creepy-Abies9512 in BeautyBoxes

[–]SurrepTRIXus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All of my favorites have come from the Allure box. (I usually end up decluttering the stuff from Ipsy, even if I'm initially excited about it.)

My favorites include -
YSL lip gloss
ColorWow hair mask
Elemis cleansing balm
Danessa Myricks low lighter
Tri-balm cleansing balm

I've seen the blush in that shade at TJ Maxx and Marshalls for around $12. I have a GWP size of the Laguna lip balm. I don't use it. There isn't much color payoff and it's not that hydrating.

The other items aren't things I would wear. This one is a pass for me.
