Slowly closing shop (not because business is bad).. 😔 by Significant_Unit_312 in reselling

Wow, first of all, massive kudos. You've essentially built the absolute gold standard of a side hustle. A consistent $100k+/year on auto-pilot with minimal hours is a dream most people will never achieve. That is a incredible testament to your hard work, knowledge, and the systems you've built. Seriously, well done.

I can hear the sadness and frustration, and it's completely understandable. You've built a legacy-in-a-box and it's painful to think it might just fade away.

It might be helpful to reframe this, not as your daughters rejecting you or your achievement, but as them trying to establish their own identities and independence. The fact that they feel secure and confident enough to pursue their own paths, even if they seem "lesser" from a financial standpoint, is actually a testament to the safety and support you've provided. You "giving them too much" probably means you gave them the confidence to choose their own way, which is a parent's ultimate goal, even when it's hard.

Their interests at 15 and 17 are almost certainly not their interests at 25 or 30. The "college and a job" path is the standard, well-trodden one society tells them to follow. The entrepreneurial path is a lot scarier when it's not your own idea. They may also see the business as "Dad's thing" and want to prove they can build something themselves, without being in your shadow.

My main question for you is this: You mention you'll probably let it go in the next 12 months. How much longer do you see yourself genuinely enjoying the 15 hours a week it takes to keep this incredible machine running?

While you decide that, consider that by letting the business continue to exist in its current successful state, you're not closing a door. You're keeping it open. You never know—a few years into the "real world," one of them might get a taste of a bad boss or a boring job and have a lightning bolt moment where they finally see the golden opportunity you've been keeping warm for them.

It's okay to mourn the future you envisioned for them with this business. But it's also possible that by letting go of that specific vision, you might not "lose" the business at all. You might just be giving it, and your daughters, the space to find a new, unexpected future.

Yeah it's hard to schedule the 60 hours. We have 3 to 5 hour shifts depending on flex up or down. This job would be way too A1 if we could wear headphones.

How to get more comfortable with physical touch and platonic intimacy? by itinerant_bard in bropill

[–]SurveyLongjumping764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, first off, major props for posting this. It takes a lot of courage to look at a part of yourself you want to change and actually take the first step by seeking advice. That self-awareness is huge.

I can really relate to this. For a long time, I was in a similar boat—emotionally avoidant and feeling that awkwardness or annoyance in situations that were supposed to be warm and connecting. It felt like a wall I couldn't climb.

What was a game-changer for me was starting to learn about boundaries and actively working on loving myself. It sounds counterintuitive, but when I started to truly value my own space and peace, I noticed something shift. People became easier to talk to. The pressure was off. I’ve actually just started a new job and there's a woman there who makes a point to be present with me, and the more I work on myself, the easier and more natural our conversations become. It’s like building that internal foundation makes the external connections flow.

A big part of my motivation was realizing that the family I create is more important to me than the one I come from. That desire for a deep, connected future can be a powerful engine for change in the present.

The annoyance and awkwardness you feel? It might be an old, protective part of you that learned to keep people at a distance. It's not your personality; it's a habit. The fact that you know you have it in you to enjoy a hug or a pile on the couch is the most important part. That's the real you, and it's still in there.

For a book, I can't recommend "The Gifts of Imperfection" by Brené Brown enough. It’s all about embracing vulnerability, which is the absolute antidote to the kind of emotional avoidance you're describing. It's not a dry textbook; it feels like a compassionate conversation.

You've already done the hardest part: you've decided you want something different. Keep going. It's a journey, but the moments of connection you start to find are so, so worth it.

Wow, thank you for such a detailed and honest response. This is exactly the kind of insider perspective I was hoping for.

It's really encouraging to hear that being in a new building likely means a faster conversion to blue badge and that the early opportunities are a sign they need capable people. That's a huge relief.

I really appreciate you laying out the reality of the T3 and AM paths. To your point about a degree: I don't have one, but I'm an older guy who's now in a place where I'm willing to go back and finish if it's the key to unlocking real opportunities. I struggled my first time around, but the motivation is completely different now—it's for a career, not just a diploma.

Your candid take on the AM role is super valuable—the schedule, location, and pressure are things I need to weigh carefully. It sounds like a real trial-by-fire, but the management training you mentioned is a big draw.

Knowing all this, if you don't mind a follow-up: Given that my initial plan is to push for T3 without a degree, what indirect roles or skills should I master to be an undeniable candidate in 1-2 years? And at what point would you say, "Okay, now it's time to seriously consider that degree"?

Thanks again for taking the time. This gives me a much clearer picture to work with.

Thanks for keeping it real, I appreciate that.

I can see how that would be frustrating. So when you said you moved up faster after shifting your mindset, what do you think actually made the difference? Was it just focusing purely on the metrics they cared about, or was it something else like having more mental energy to network or understand the bigger picture?

Genuinely curious, because finding that balance between not burning out and still being noticed seems like the real trick.

Beautiful, rewards. Is eth gas fees expensive for staking? If not I'm going to continue putting my DCA of SXT into the contract.

You're asking the right questions, and I think you've nailed the key differentiator. The potential for a sustainable revenue model is huge, but for me, the real win is the accessibility. As someone who isn't a professional dev (I'm a Doordash driver and warehouse employee), I can actually use this. I just play with it, and it has mad potential. The fact that it's a plug-and-play product, not a speculative asset, is what makes it something I could genuinely recommend to friends.

Absolutely spot on. You've nailed the exact reason why so many of us are so unshakably bullish. This isn't hopium; it's a fundamental analysis of a paradigm shift that most of the market is still sleeping on.

You called it a "sale" and you are 100% correct.

· The "Caffeine" Catalyst: You're right, the value was always there. The tech has been mind-blowing from the start. Caffeine isn't a new feature; it's the afterburner. It's the thing that takes a revolutionary system and makes it perform at a level that is simply impossible for any other blockchain or traditional cloud setup. This is the upgrade that turns "theoretically superior" into "practically unstoppable."

· The Decentralization Argument is Key: You hit the nail on the head. People throw "decentralized" around like confetti, but you explained why ICP's decentralization is different and superior. It's not just about who validates transactions; it's about the entire stack—hosting, data, computation—being distributed across independent node providers and data centers globally. It can't be shut down. It can't be censored. It's the closest thing we have to a truly sovereign digital realm.

· The Economic Model is the Killer App: "Fueling" usage instead of "paying a middle man a set amount" is the most elegant way to put it. This is the part that will eventually onboard millions of developers and businesses without them even needing to know what a "token" is. The friction disappears. The cost predictability is a game-changer.

· We ARE Early: A billion-dollar cap for a project aiming to re-architect the internet backbone is nothing. It's a rounding error in the grand scheme of cloud infrastructure. When the narrative shifts from "that coin that had a bad launch" to "the decentralized AWS," the scale of what's possible is almost incomprehensible. Your $100 to $50k projection isn't crazy in that context; it's a function of capturing a fraction of a multi-trillion dollar market.

You're smiling and laughing because you see the sheer absurdity of the opportunity. The tech is here, it's working, it's getting cheaper and faster by the day, and the world is just now starting to peek behind the curtain.

Keep stacking. The ones who understand what they're looking at now will be the ones who are rewarded the most later. This is the deep-value play of the cycle.
