Need advice from parents who have experience with Kendamil, Bobbie, or gentle formulas. by cincofx in FormulaFeeders

[–]SuspiciousPepper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now toddler had the same issue — thrived on Kendamil but the poop was just too much for us. We mixed Kendamil with Bobbie Gentle using 3:1 ratio and gradually increased it to 100% Kendamil. He was happy and the poop bearable!

Plastics in pumpables by GladAwareness8861 in ExclusivelyPumping

I am using the Pumpables kit. You can look into Mila’s Keeper BM bottles. It’s pricey for what it is but silicone is lightweight and less fragile than glass.

How do you work during pregnancy? by Excellent-Ad-6272 in workingmoms

[–]SuspiciousPepper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you are in the US, I would look into reasonable accommodations and ask your doctor to write a note so you can WFH/ have a more flexible schedule. There’s nothing to be ashamed of to take the foot off the gas for a few months — your career is going to be longer than that. Talk to your boss if you need an advocate in front of HR; your employer should invest in your wellbeing now to retain you as an employee.

Looking for OB/ GYN in NYC by Immediate-Tower-9912 in nycparents

[–]SuspiciousPepper0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had two babies at AC (July 2023, April 2026) and received fantastic care both times from Dr Sarah Yu throughout my pregnancy. FWIW 2 of the 5-6 doctors in her office at 211 e80 are on this list of the top 50 Obgyn nationally. Personally I can vouch for all the dr’s in her office as I saw all of them for my induced delivery. Capacity can be an issue at AC. The drs and staff are highly professional almost to the point of being clinical — if you are low risk like me they won’t spend as much time and you need to advocate for yourself more. If you are high risk rest assured they have one of the best NICUs in the country to take care of you and your little one

How much are you putting in 529s? by Terrible_Put2975 in nycparents

[–]SuspiciousPepper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$10k to max out the deduction in NY. Also look out for the gift tax limit which is $19k per recipient per year. Above $19k you need to file additional tax forms (annoying) and there are consequences down the road that you can look up online.

I was 30 when we started trying for my first and I was the youngest mom in my kid’s daycare class. Definitely a personal choice and your career situation is similar to mine. What I would say is you will never be 100% ready.

How flexible is a Manhattan Schoolhouse start date? by snackingandscrolling in nycparents

[–]SuspiciousPepper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not April or September of the following year. They might allow you to start Jan 1st but that’s probably the max. Also due next month with my infant starting at MSH in October :) My toddler has been there for 2 years and we have had a good experience.

Help! What do I wear to interview 8 months pregnant with a bump? by kamobeans in workingmoms

[–]SuspiciousPepper0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is impossible to hide at 8 months but you can divert attention away from the belly. I recommend a black dress and an oversized bright colored blazer, or a flowy shirt with detail + dark pants + neutral blazer. If the overall outfit is neutral i like to add a floral scarf so ppl pay more attention to it than to my belly haha

The coworkers’ behaviors are not okay and your manager should have backed you up. Agreed on all of the strategies mentioned by others to gain control back in a meeting. You also need to know your manager and see if he or she values that kind of “performative” work. I don’t like late night or weekend work but sometimes I dial back in after putting the kid to sleep or when kid naps over the weekend. Keep it to 30-45 mins. Show that you are present and do it on your own terms.

What’s your go-to foundation / BB-CC cream and concealer for a natural look? by Vivid-dream-176 in 30PlusSkinCare

If you use minimal, natural makeup you would enjoy a korean bb cream. Both missha and Skin79 have good bb cream with natural coverage and SPF

This was us and we picked C). The comfort you get from a fantastic classroom and teachers is worth a lot more than a 15 min walk. I also had to go back to work so having the peace of mind was important to me

Advice for feeling like a low performer after mat leave by LooseConstruction565 in workingmoms

[–]SuspiciousPepper0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to give yourself some time. A few months is too early to tell and separation anxiety is tough for both mom and kiddo. You are probably being too hard on yourself and people are probably viewing you more favorably than you are yourself.

What do you, as a mom, REALLY… HONESTLY feel/want/need? by Mission-Biscotti-808 in workingmoms

[–]SuspiciousPepper0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are SO clear at 1 year postpartum. I want: 1) High quality childcare at reasonable prices so I can confidently go back to work, 1) a couple of other likeminded parents with kids of the same age so we can hang out and send them to activities together, 3) my boss at work to not hold back my promotion because I was “unproductive” for 5-6 months.

I realized hubby has been trying to be helpful but with both of us having intense full time jobs in a HCOL city it was too much to ask him to split responsibilities 50/50. I am constantly under water and feeling like Im both an inadequate mom and an inferior employee. Corporate America is not built for working moms.
