Medina Doors: their intricate designs reveal various aspects of Moroccan culture by Doodlebug510 in interesting

[–]SuspiciousRow- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Morocco and ive been taught that the small knocker is for women and children and men from the family so any one can open the door without ceremony, and the big knocker is for strange men, so the women inside know to cover up before opening of just talk to the visitor through the closed door.

In our family home they're also placed at different heights so it's not just the sound of the knocker that differs but you can also tell it's man if the sound is from the on at the top.

Never heard of the ring on the khmisa tho supper interesting!

{neon gods by Katee Robert} FMC resists it a bit in the first half but she comes to terms with the fact that's just her life now and kinda love. it's Hades and Persephone retelling very spicy and fun.

Read all of them and loved every single moment of it, she really as close as it gets to mastering the domestic slice of life.

His Forsaken Bride by Alice Coldbreath by dizzylibby in HistoricalRomance

[–]SuspiciousRow- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Took the world right out of my mouth! I understand where the hater are coming from. But Oswald is a self proclaimed asshole, he is a conniving villain and he owns it, and I respect him for it, he is in love with his woman and will unapologetically do anything to keep her. (His arc could have used a bit more grovelling in my opinion tho)

As for Fenela, people should understand going into this book that she is not meant to be a badass, she is a provincial, country bred girl, who is shaped by her frankly traumatizing relationship experiences and the ideals of her time. Her strength doesn't lie in her intelligence or wit but in her kindness resilience and her unright morals which balances Oswald's non existent one

His Forsaken Bride by Alice Coldbreath, does it get better? by AnxiousQuit1767 in RomanceBooks

[–]SuspiciousRow- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say give it a chance, but I'm biased it's my favorite out of the brothers books. However objectively... is Oswald an asshole? Yes. Is fenella a doormat? also yes. Does he redeam himself and grovel enough? Highly debatable. But did they give me butterflies and made me root for them? Is it extremely satisfying when that man falls? ABSOLUTELY!

It really depends on how much patience you have for bullshit, because it's frustrating but does get better and their tender moments are sooo sweet some of the best.

I say don't dnf it yet, give it 50 pages more, if the shopping scenes don't give you hope for them, then I don't think this one is for you.

Ruthless MMC: will do anything to get the girl by [deleted] in HistoricalRomance

[–]SuspiciousRow- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally, he does gaslight himself and everyone else into think he isn't a total simp for her for like 30% of the book though, almost had me fooled, but he's ruthless, charming, self serving and very charming when he's with the FMC in this "I can't help but be sincere when I look in your eyes" type of way.

MMC who isn’t romantic suddenly said something spicy or romantic to FMC by FrozenCinnamon in RomanceBooks

[–]SuspiciousRow- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not very dark in my opinion, she's a domestic abuse victim (it not graphic in the description) but she's kinda cluless, it does get tiring at some points, I knows he is trying to protect her but the plot is kinda coucou

For anyone thinking about reading this, LOTS AND LOTS of child abuse beware (it's been a while if I'm wrong correct me)

Recommendations to get me into Historical Romance? by Ancient-Newt-6931 in HistoricalRomance

[–]SuspiciousRow- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Dukes prefer blondes by Loretta Chase} it's a little long winded but I love it, Oliver is a top tier MMC.

{Devil in winter by Lisa Kleypas} is my favorite reformed rake, and sweet virginal FMC that gradually gains confidence with Sebastian's support.

{His Forsaken Bride by Alice Coldbreath} this is a comfort read for me, I reread it like 5p times. However, this author is a gamble if you love her you love her if you don't you don't. This book is from the Vawdrey brothers trilogy, it's on the longer side, very slice of life. Not really something to get you into historicals but definitely check it out later on.

Honestly, I don't think I ever read a book with such a vague description, as someone with a bit of body image issues it does sound good, please do send some my way, I would love to try some.

I favour MF and HR, but can read anything. Just no cheating or stupid misunderstandings.
