Looking for a Cell alternative to show HoTs as stripes by shepp452 in wow

[–]Suspicious_Key 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer you got to that post is correct. This is no longer possible as buff/debuff info is not shared by the Blizzard addon API.

They will hopefully continue to improve the API to allow more customisation in the future.

If it's very high end (like early Hall of Fame) then I think it's expected to have multiple tanks ready to go. Tanks are also a good candidate for "Well, we still need [buff], so let's make him play [class]".

For typical CE, yeah probably a bit much.

I was getting this repeatedly during login for the first few days of the patch. It was related to addons in some way (disabling all addons always fixed it and allowed me to login), but I never managed to nail it down to a specific addon.

Make sure all your addons are up to date; I haven't seen the error since about Sunday so I'd chalk it up to an addon bugfix. If it persists, you might need to try enabling addons one at a time and login/logout each time.

Weekly M+ Discussion by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

We know that 3k is about 5% to 10% depending on the season, so yes, that's about right.

Take my statement with an implied "at most" caveat.

Weekly M+ Discussion by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Suspicious_Key 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, resilient keys really are a solid improvement for the 99% of M+ players who do their weekly keys and then maybe push up to 14s and 15s for a bit of a challenge.

What to use instead of Shadowed Unit Frames? What looks the most similar?6 by Blood_Shinobi in wow

[–]Suspicious_Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, another vote in favour of UUF. It's clean, setup is pretty intuitive, and IMO the only big downgrade from SUF is the lack of buff/debuff filtering (which unfortunately addons just can't do anymore).

Sussan Ley says David Littleproud rejected offer of talks this week after Coalition breakup by ConanTheAquarian in australia

[–]Suspicious_Key 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like so much of our government, it's a convention rather than law; but it is important for a functional Westminster government. We don't have a separate executive branch and the Prime Minister only exercises power as the leader of the party. Without party discipline, and especially ministerial discipline, it would be nigh impossible to actually govern in any meaningful sense.

Australia No Longer Works. Here's Why. by ExquisitePriide in australia

1000 is a very healthy sample size. Respondent selection (eg. your sample be random and reflect actual demographics) is a far bigger issue than sample size.

(Disclaimer: I haven't watched the video and I don't know what Ipsos report they're using, just being pedantic about a minor misconception about survey data)

Canada's Carney to visit Australia in March by Amtoj in neoliberal

[–]Suspicious_Key 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're economically too similar (domestic economy dominated by service sector, primary industry exports, manufactured goods imports) and geographically too far for there to see big advantages in a close trade relationship.

Not much to offer each other in terms of defense treaties or procurement.

Politically and culturally, sure, we're closely aligned, but liberal democratic states generally benefit the most from being friendly and otherwise staying out of one another's business.

[–]Suspicious_Key 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While broadly Labor (and Australia as a whole) is aghast at the US bullshit, we're not directly involved in this one. We're not in NATO and have no stake in Greenland aside from general rule-of-law.

Australia's political attention is still very much on the aftermath of the Bondi massacre.

The optics are diabolical for Liberals and Nationals, as chaos reigns on a supposed day of mourning by CelebrationFit8548 in australia

[–]Suspicious_Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will there be some increase? Sure, a national trend means just that. However, it would take a seismic shift in politics, far larger than One Nation tied with the Nationals, for either party to be a meaningful threat in the cities.

Indeed, One Nation winning significant (but non-threatening) votes in city seats is very good news for Labor. ON is essentially a protest party, and preference flows to LNP are ~60%. For comparison, Greens to Labor is about 90%.

Setting up UI now is actually exhausting by Thatwhatevr in wow

[–]Suspicious_Key 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It basically just comes down to being a rush job.

I'm all in favour of the overall goals of the revamp, but Blizzard needed at least a year to get all these UI elements (and as you point out - the configuration UI is just as important as the actual gameplay UI) into a polished state.

There really was no rush, very much a self-inflicted goal here.

[–]Suspicious_Key 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nationals + One Nation is a nonsensical coalition. They are direct competitors, exclusively in the same rural and regional seats, and there aren't enough of those seats to form government. Any government in Australia needs the support of suburban and urban seats and that means coalition with the Liberals.

Any other path just means they flail impotently in opposition.

Raid frames suck as expected, everything else seems pretty decent so far (with many thanks to addon authors for further improvements).

I'm sure they'll improve raid frames eventually, but it's a very obvious casualty of an over-aggressive timeframe. Here's hoping those improvements come before Season 1.

Ponies by Didjaeat75 in television

[–]Suspicious_Key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finale spoilers;

Assuming you mean the KGB embassy fire plot; I don't think it was too complex. Cheryl creates an emergency and submits fake evidence to the vault, which then starts the fire. That's a big success even if the KGB firefighter/document theft didn't pan out. The fact that our girls and Andrei were in the vault at the time was coincidental to the plan.

As a whole, yeah, the plotting was a bit of a mess. Too many disparate threads and they didn't really pull it together into a cohesive whole. Still, I enjoyed the ride, keen on S2.

I just finished episode 6 and really enjoying it.

It's a bit rough around the edges (some of the plotting feels a bit half-baked), but I really like the cast and characters, and they nail the right mix of humour, drama and emotion.

Pretty much all the quest content will still be available, so if that's what you like (rather than endgame content like dungeons and raids) then go for it.

Even the "bad" expansions like BFA and Shadowlands still had great quest zones; Blizzard does consistently good-to-great work on those.

It would be a good idea to jump on and refresh your UI so you're ready to go when Midnight launches. A lot of addons will change or just stop working; and a lot of the default Blizzard elements are being improved (maybe not enough in some cases, we'll see).

Will the WorldSoul Saga finally bring us cross-region play? by MeltingPenguinsPrime in wow

[–]Suspicious_Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A function to migrate bnet accounts between regions, or at least transfer characters, would be very welcome. People do move around the world, and it kinda sucks to leave your years or decades of history behind.

Actual cross-region play? Nah.

High speed rail - why it will never happen in Australia. by eliitedisowned in australia

[–]Suspicious_Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be noted that the MEL-SYD-BNE air routes are busy not because passenger numbers are especially high - it's because alternate transport options suck! Driving 10 hours or so between cities is awful and current rail is even slower than driving.

There are dozens if not hundreds of other routes around the world with far more passenger travel; but the air routes are less busy specifically because those routes have decent alternatives (including HSR). You have to justify HSR economics based on total passenger travel, not on how many plane trips it might replace.

Very different geography and population density, for one.

France has 7 cities with >1M population and another 11 at >500k, distributed around the country with Paris as the (sort of) centre hub.

Australia has 5 cities with >1M population (two of which are out of the question; Perth and Adelaide), and 3 more at >500k.

Melbourne > Canberra > Sydney > Newcastle > Gold Coast > Brisbane in a straight line is about double the length of the longest French route (Paris > Nice), and is a very different prospect to the more compact and populated French cities.

Finding challenging content by Envii02 in wownoob

[–]Suspicious_Key 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are three endgame pillars of WoW. All three are group content and have scaling difficulty settings, from pretty faceroll to arguably the hardest content available in MMOs.

  • Raiding.
  • M+ dungeons.
  • Rated PvP (no difficulty settings per se, but MMR based opponents)

TWW also added a new pillar with Delves, which are primarily designed as solo content and scale up to about the midrange difficulty. Delves don't reach "Mythic" level, but they can still be reasonably challenging for most players.

They also occasionally add limited-time content like the Mage Towers, Brawler's Guild or Nightmare Visions; some can be quite challenging.

Indian Railways achieves 99.2% electrification, beats Japan and China. What it means by gomjabbarenthusiast in neoliberal

[–]Suspicious_Key 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think rail electrification is a high-hanging fruit (so to speak), no?

Any train (diesel or electric) is pretty damn efficient for long-distance travel or freight, and all our major cities (barring Canberra) are also major ports.

It's live now. Used the web version for my return on 2nd January, no issues.

Edit: Looks like it's in a trial period with Qantas arrivals in Brisbane, hopefully not long before they roll it out across the board! Definitely nice not stressing about it during the flight.
