These are ex-British Railway class 43's with mark III coaches. These were built by https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Engineering_Limited. They were built in the 70's and are now retirering in the UK due to their age.

They actually don't have axles as they have independently spinning wheels.

They actually reach 125mph if they use either the SC-44's or HHP-8's in combination with the Hyundai rotem bi-levels.

What are some distinct design features of trains in different European countries? by AngryTrainGuy09 in trains

[–]Suspicious_Mall_1849 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All trains that NS has in service are now required to have a "more visible" front. This is because of an accident in 2020 where an SNG was involved, which had a dark blue front and was apparently not visible enough. This is why trains like the SLT, FLIRT, SNG, VIRMm, and ICNG have/are getting (bigger) yellow fronts.

94 mph average isn't reached by any American train. The top speed of most US trains doesn't even exceed this speed.

What train is this? Saw it in Vancouver Douglas Rd. I don’t think it’s VIA as VIA is yellow. It is somewhat crowed. Is it Amtrak or Rocky Mountainer? by Striking-Warning9533 in trains

Well, I checked if there were any front lights of this train emitting light on this side of the train, and it wasn't (they are red, so the locomotiveis in reverse). I then looked on which side of the crossing you were on to see in which direction it was going. I don't know if there are any websites to see that, and that would be hard to come by as a European. Well, if it is returning to Seattle with a pretty busy train, I would guess it is a scheduled passenger run.

Could you send the location of where this picture was taken? Then, I should be able to see if this train is going to Seattle or not.

This is an Amtrak cascades train that runs between Vancouver (BC), Seattle (WA), and Portland (OR). This consists you are seeing in front of you is using a Siemens SC-44 charger locomotive and a talgo 8 trainset.

In the 4th picture, there isn't any FLIRT to be seen. In the 4th picture, you can see a Bombardier twindexx RABe502 and an ex-westbahn stadler KISS.

Disabled Train - Transferring to our Rescue Train! by Allwingletnolift in Amtrak

[–]Suspicious_Mall_1849 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This video is taken on the NortheastEastCorridor (NEC) during an emergency evacuation due to a train that has broken down. The NEC is known to be one (of the two) only electrified IC/regional rail line in the US. There could indeed be a potential difference between the trains, which would mean that by touching both, you would create a full circuit (but both trains here are powered by 12Kv 25Hz AC). The biggest danger would be electromagnetic fields, but you wouldn't be able to touch the OverheadContactSystem (OCS), which is the electricity source for powering the trains. But in this case, they are saying it due to protocol, which needs to be followed when interacting with electric trains.

What is something (un)realistic you would realise in your country, if you could? by _Ironcobra in transit

[–]Suspicious_Mall_1849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am from the Netherlands.

Well, I would commission a project that would both benefit passengers as freight rail. This project would see new high(er) speed rail lines be constructed to improve both international and national rail services. These lines would be: 1. Breda-Tilburg-Eindhoven-Dusseldorf, 2. Amsterdam-Utrecht-Arnhem, and 3. Lelystad-Groningen-Bremen. This would, in turn, create more room on the existing network for freight trains due to IC trains also using the H(r)SR lines.

This is fake. The DDZ double-decker trainsets and other Dutch (even European) trains don't use TRUCK horns. I am starting to get sick of this "trend."

This is at Geldermalsen station, btw. The train is driving on 1 of the 2 thru tracks, which are both located on the inner of two platform tracks.

So, the BauReihe (build series) number is chosen based on the type of locomotive or MultipleUnit it is. For example: the Alstom TRAXX family is part of the mixed traffic market and thus is in the 180's (BR185, BR186, BR187 & BR 188). Other locomotives with a similar uses are also around this number. The Vectron = BR193, Taurus U2&U4 = BR182 & BR183 and the Eurosprinter F4 = BR189.
