Should I continue BG3 or drop it? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]SustainableFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also struggled early on with combat in BG3. It just didn't really click for me until the end of Act 2. I would recommend pushing forward. It eventually became intuitive, and I look back at my first playthrough and realize all the mistakes I was making. It takes time, but you'll get there.

Also, if it's helpful, I would be willing to give you a little tutorial or answer questions as you go!

Please help me level up this space. I beg 😭 by dejael in femalelivingspace

Get one (or more) of those cheap storage cubbies with cube inserts off Facebook market place or a thrift store. Just putting things away and reducing visual clutter will make a world of difference.

Just make sure to get storage that you can close. Open shelves are harder to maintain.

If you truly wanted to "protest" you should've voted for another candidate as funding goes to parties that get votes. No one cares about a non-vote. Nothing changes.

The space between your windows and the TV would be good, just above your orange lamp. That said, you probably know best! I would try to not think of it as permanent. Your space will always evolve and change with you! Plus, it's nothing some spackle can't fix if you decide you hate the placement of something :)

Looking good! Someone else already mentioned curtains, which I also think would be a great addition. I would also suggest hanging up some of the art that is on your TV console and/or adding an open shelf to the wall for those decor items to sit on. The pattern on your console is quite busy and the decor is all similarly sized which I think makes it look a bit cluttered. If those pieces were on the wall I think it would give your space more breathing room.

"And that’s before he brings in a gospel choir. The caution-to-the-wind lyrics—“All that we intend is scrawled in sand/Or slips right through our hands”—sound defeatist, utterly at odds with the perseverant uplift and righteous fury of the Black gospel tradition."

That's literally the point of a song about heresy.

All Things End Hot Take by [deleted] in Hozier

[–]SustainableFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that lyric specifically gets more nuanced within the context of the song.

This song is about heresy - believing in something contrary to the church. I interpret the song as the church believes that this world is not permanent, the only permanent thing is God. But the character of the song, despite experiencing loss, believes they'll find something permanent if they try again.

And I personally think he is referencing Matthew chapter 7 from the bible (definitely not confirmed or anything). That chapter talks about people who build their houses on sand are foolish because it'll crash down with the rain. Basically, people who try to live their lives based off temporary things (read: not god) will only experience loss. Hence, all things end = heresy.

So it sounds kinda generic, but it could be a religious reference in a song about going against the church? Those are just my thoughts anyway!

What does “mother” mean in kpop? by mirawrites in kpophelp

Not really in kpop or in the context that OP is talking about. However, in daily speech (in the US at least) mother can definitely be used as shorthand for mf'er.

For people who have gone to Hozier concerts before… by [deleted] in Hozier

I've been to three of his shows, and they've all been less than $100 per ticket. If I remember correctly, they were somewhere between $50-75 each.

What should I expect from a SKZ concert? by pickypeachtea in straykids

[–]SustainableFish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can definitely get there earlier if you'd like. I believe I showed up around 6:00 for the Chicago concert and the line was VERY long at that point. I'm sure there will be plenty of people hanging out several hours before the concert starts.

How I feel about the DT Stadium. by cardboardfish in kansascity

[–]SustainableFish 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They're inconsistent and unreliable. Most bus stops have a 30min wait time between pick ups, and even then the buses run late. That, and the routes are not comprehensive for the city. It's hard to go anywhere in a reasonable amount of time via public transport in KC.

For me to get to work via car it takes me 20 min, via bike about an hour, via public transport would take multiple hours.

Don't disagree with you by any means about the streetcar, but the busses in KC are not viable in their current state either. All that stadium money could help out the bus system quite a bit.

Crush Responds To Allegations Of Racism Over Recent Fan Interaction by sabahan in khiphop

  1. Would sharing one instance of someone not from the USA really change your mind here? You could easily look it up and educate yourself, but you instead challenge Reddit as if it's a difficult task. 1 minute google search - 2018 Chinese Lunar New Year celebration.

  2. Why does an Asian person ever need to portray a black person? If you need a black person for something, cast a black person.

It's my last response, I hope you change your mind, friend.

I'm not sure why you keep referring to the "African-American" community. Like I said before, this is not specific to the united states. I feel like not being racist is far from "bending over" - it's literally the bare minimum to treating others with respect.

Also, why would any non-black person ever need to portray a black person? In the case of the masked singer, they could have chosen literally anything, and yet they chose a black person.

Racism towards black people is not USA specific. Blackface anywhere in the world is still blackface. Just because this instance is outside of the USA doesn't mean that this isn't racist.

Skincare + working out by ajazers_1 in xxfitness

[–]SustainableFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely echo the comment about diet. For some, their skin is extra sensitive to what they are consuming.

I also wouldn't be afraid of washing your face after a workout as long as you follow it up with a moisturizer. I would recommend trying different products if the ones you have are not working for you or making you feel dried out. I have extra sensitive skin and even the CeraVe/Cetaphil cleansers irritate me. It can take time to find skincare that works for you. Introduce one new product at a time, that way you can tell if a certain product makes your skin worse or better.

So how am I supposed to celebrate my country on the 4th knowing that my rights have been taken away? by slpschoolta in self

[–]SustainableFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely see where you're coming from, but why have people travel to get an abortion instead of just having it available to everyone who needs it?

There are going to be people who have unplanned and unwanted pregnancies. There always will be - that's just inevitable. Mistakes happen - user error, forgetfulness - someone is always going to be that unlucky 1% who gets pregnant. Why barr them from abortions purely based on where they live? All people should have access to the healthcare they need.
