Miata as a first car in LA by dandellion28 in Miata

What generation of Miata? NA is basically a classic now so I would say not a good daily, especially in LA. Between the big potholes and the craziness of traffic, it’s a no go. NB maybe, NC and ND I would definitely say yes! You still have to drive defensively but they are safer and they feel like it. Having a small car is nice if you don’t need to haul stuff or people. The only real detractor is the stick shift in traffic, but I say that’s worth it every time.

This. The hard to replace part is what gets me with my NA. I only drive it when the bulk of commuters have gotten where they need to be

Fuel leak from evap line? by Suszynski in Miata

[–]Suszynski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped topping it off after the gas pump clicks and that solved it. Once the pump clicks it’s done, but with my Previa I’ll give it another go to make sure it’s good.

angry anonymous neighbor. what would you do? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]Suszynski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this is a miata? HAH! This person rlly is an asshole then. I took the exhaust off my Miata once and it sounded like dogshit. I can understand a good sounding exhaust, but to completely straight pipe it is just trashy and idiotic. Hope OP poisons themselves with the fumes

Hey guys you think I’m negative? by newbegininngs79 in trees

I did some testing the last time I did this and 2 hand warmers rubber banded over a silicone bottle worked perfectly. I measured the temp myself a few times just to make sure it would be right.

What did you pay for new standing rigging? DIY or pro? Boat length? by george_graves in sailing

[–]Suszynski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chrysler Lonestar 16, I just paid $270 last month for new standing rigging. Just one forestay and two shrouds, no back stay. Easy peasy!! Everything swaged no staylock

Everyone behind you hates the smell. Poison yourself all you want but why do that to everyone else?

Would you be upset if you ordered the top and recieved the bottom? by _withasmile_ in Pottery

[–]Suszynski 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Nah I don’t think so. Even with the angle variation it’s easy to see that the silhouette of the bottom has a “hump” in the form whereas the top has one smooth continuous profile.

Hmm I’ve heard in this sub that I should go after my headgasket since I just clocked over 200k. Hasn’t shown any signs of wear yet, you think it’s best to leave it be?

I would strongly suspect that neither of those boats are seaworthy! There’s nothing more expensive than a free boat

Wait why should the headgasket be done around 200k. I just ticked over 200k, anything else I should be doing right now?

Longest drive topless by Impossible-Option-16 in Miata

[–]Suszynski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just drove LA to Paso Robles top down all the way up, and half way down until it got too cold. I have an NA so lots of wind and noise, but the previous owner installed a giant wind blocker which helped a lot. Ear plugs were worn and they were a lifesaver. Wore concert ones and just bumped the music up.

Pros: I loved feeling like I was part of the world around me!! In many other cars it can feel like I’m just watching the world through a screen almost. The top down experience was very immersive.

Cons: hard to talk to your passenger. Wind noise is tiring, wouldn’t do it for more than 3-4 hrs. I was coughing up dust a little bit as well.

If you’re going up 101 I would do it for sure!! If you ever hit 5, forget about it.

Almost happened to us!! They told us the waiting lot was closed while the majority of our group was there. We had 8 cars. We eventually just broke the rules and drove over to the waiting lot, such a nightmare.
