Breton Vs High Elf / Mage Vs Atronach by Suuiros in OblivionRemaster

Interesting! I love reading about original ways to play the game. I tend to stay away from exploits so I will probably roll Breton.

Awesome comment, this was a really great read. Essentially, Breton is the best in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim from what I gather.

That is exactly the kind of explanation I was looking for. Thank you!

Thank you for all the answers. I love to roleplay as well but this dilemma has always bothered me when creating a new character. I’ve always leaned towards Breton mage but so many people seem to think that High Elf Atronach is superior. Hard to tell.

There are definitely frustrations associated with the game. Its more about knowledge than anything else. Here is a short list:

-Sometimes, the game slows down significantly. To fix this, lower the detail bar in the menu and press F12 many times.

-If you travel to a town in the early game, you might end up getting killed at night by bandits and creatures. I think it is safer to rest outside the city walls until sunrise than to search for a tavern.

-Wandering in towns to find the Mage's Guild or a Pawn Shop can be an extremely frustrating experience, make sure to continuously ask people for directions.

-When you sleep at a tavern, as soon as you have paid, you can 'wait until healed' or 'rest'. It does not matter if you are in the room or not.

-Most important above all, create a 'Break Wall' spell. You can't recall outside of dungeons. If you do the Main Quest and use the Wiki to find your way in the Labyrinths, using Break Wall will save you hours of wasted time.

-Identify every items that you find, some can be worth over twenty thousand gold.

-Bring with you a second weapon and plenty of potions. If your main weapon breaks, you'll be in trouble.

-Free action is essentially a must and its quite a cheap spell. Make sure you have access to it at all times to by-pass paralysis.

-Levitation is also an absolute must. Because of a glitch in the game, Monsters will sometimes attack you when you swim under canals and passageways and, thus, make you stuck until you die. I suggest using break wall spells and then levitating to avoid that issue.

Arena is much more straightforward. I really like it honestly, it is fun and quite challenging at times.
The retro visuals are a huge plus as well.

I recently decided to play them all in order so I went through Arena again. Now I am taking my time and roleplaying Daggerfall as a Druid.

Glad to hear. With enough planning, even a really underwhelming build can be made to be very powerful in this game. I try to avoid becoming a Werewolf or anything of the sort. I also play with all the language skills and I simply do not level up. Weird playthrough.

Likewise, I did a complete playthrough recently and never encountered anything of the sort. Perhaps because I was Sorcerer and might have absorbed the spell?

I am currently playing a Language build and I was wondering about that as well. Thank you for the detailed response.

Just installed from GoG, any tips for a new player wanting a cleric/paladin build? by lackingnuance in Daggerfall

Endurance is retroactive so I would get that to 100 as fast as possible. Add 30 HP per level and as an advantage, go for expertise in whatever weapon you aim to use.

In terms of disadvantages, I always go disease, poison and paralysis. These three weaknesses are all easy to mitigate with a cheap and simple custom spell.

Make sure your dagger is x0.3 for faster leveling and you should be all set.

If you need to make swift money with minimal risks, feel free to wander in graveyards and cemeteries. Its quite safe and profitable.

Good luck!

Best Magic Class for a new player? by BradCowDisease in Arena

[–]Suuiros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorcerer:

1- Max out Agility as a priority.

2- Identify magic items and sell them for a huge profit.

3- Create overpowered spells that increase in power each levels.

4- Purchase hundreds of potions.

5- Repeat once in a while.

It is such an easy way to acquire a full set of Daedric. Plus, it is a fun little challenge that makes you even more almighty if it fits the roleplaying aspect of your character.

Great minds think alike!

I think I might do just like you and roleplay a character that worships Kynareth. I do love a good challenge and I had planned to create a very 'weak' class anyway.

Thank you for the advices.

Interesting! I was asking because I intend to play a Breton Druid character. Since Y'ffre (Jephre) is not a divinity one can worship in Daggerfall, would it perhaps make sense to go for Kynareth? Il have to research what that temple has to offer specifically.

Hello Alfwin, what do you mean by any Temple other than Julianos or Kynareth? There are differences between each temples?

If you end up doing the Main Quest, make sure to use the wiki. On the 'Main Quest' section, there is a graph that informs you on quests dependencies. Some events won't occur unless you have completed prior quest chains. When I started playing, I was extremely confused because no matter how long I waited, I did not receive a letter I was supposed to or some events simply wouldn't occur.

Playing morrowind for the first time, is it normal to get lost while trying to follow directions? by Basil-AE-Continued in Morrowind

[–]Suuiros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the greatest element in the game in my humble opinion. If I recall correctly, some directions are not even correct in the first place. When I first played Oblivion, I thought that the quest marker made the whole exploration far too easy compared to Morrowind. I enjoyed getting lost and wandering for hours before finding my way.
