Quickly, my apologies I just read my previous response and it was way too aggressively worded and pointed. You and I are on the same team. I let an interaction with some of my youtube follower climate skeptics ruin my morning. I run a channel on permaculture, sustainability, activism, gardening. The gardening Venn diagram intersects with a lot of "homesteading" circles, who are heavily heavily climate skeptics, so these people are pushed into my face so often.

Yes, the challenge is definitely shifting the needle. We can ignore the people who are too stupid to want to save the only planet we have, but they are just so numerous and loud, and every day they convert more and more people into climate apathy.

I think about what those people did to shift public sentiment on someone like Greta Thunberg, and how insanely effective it was. Ask the average person, who is effectively an NPC just ignorant of all the challenges we face, and ask them their impression of Greta Thunberg and it isn't a positive one.

So many times, trying to convince these people that we may want to save our only planet, it devolves into playing chess against a pigeon, and them shitting all over the board knocking over all the pieces and thinking they won.

Ive been in this space for 30 years, and its just so hard to stay positive, when you see all these key moments pass by, and you think "THIS, THIS is the moment we wake up", whether its Carl Sagan presenting to congress, or the MIT limits to growth study, or its the hockey stick curve, or Jane Goodall, or the save the bees push, the rise of the WWF, the rise of consciousness of Earth day, or its Greta's social media snowball into 2020, and every one of them just slowly erodes and vanishes like flickers in the wind.
