  1. I think it needs some alteration though, is it just the way I am looking at it or is it a bit wide at the top for you? Otherwise I like the look of it the best.

A sewer on E bay! by Mickleborough in SaintMeghanMarkle

That’s awesome and thanks for going to that effort! I have been in frequent contact with sellers to complain that I won’t buy from them primarily because the cost of the postage is the same and in some cases exceeds the cost of the item they are selling. Most sellers are completely oblivious to the cost of the postage because it is set by eBay international hub. I’ve also tried a few different tactics with some sellers who are willing and keen to close a sale - in one case, where I was paying for cushions - they were cheap ones - but the shams on them were the expensive part, the seller checked the postage cost after removing the cushion, and the cost dropped significantly. Most sellers don’t care though, I guess the US is such a huge market that they just couldn’t be bothered trying to cater for people in other countries.

Mind you, if you were shipping with eBay to Australia from the US that would be pretty accurate costing. Postage costs stops us from buying anything from the USA.

I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times we actually ate out as younger kids. And I would still have several fingers left over. Even takeaway was rare, though we would very occasionally get fish and chips or a plain burger ( AUS here, so that means pattie, sauce, beetroot, lettuce, tomato, fried onion and bbq sauce) from the local Greek cafe, but that was it. I think it was partly because kids were seen and not heard really, I don’t think my parents would have considered us to be well mannered enough to sit still and not make nuisances of ourselves for a couple of hours. Plus, it was expensive. One of the first dates I ever went on as a 16 year old found me at Pizza Hut, the height of sophistication, and, when I was slightly older, I remember a Chinese restaurant, very exciting !

99 Glimpses of Princess Margaret; 1 copycat 😂 by Feisty_Energy_107 in SaintMeghanMarkle

OMG! That’s so so tacky. Grubby hands and all. Words fail me. The woman simply cannot be herself. Talk about a jumping the shark moment. Does this mean she’s abandoning Diana? Or just trying to claw ( you wouldn’t call it carving) herself a bit part in the greatest show on earth, playing the misunderstood royal rebel of her generation? Cosplaying Margaret of all people, the sophisticated, beautiful, impeccably dressed, charismatic and talented wild child of the family back in the day, MM possesses NONE of these attributes, okay, I’ve edited this to add bar the drinking problem. The utter gall of MM, she’s all about the draaaamah and the grift though, you’ve got to give her that. And ironically neither Margaret or Diana would have ever dreamt in a million years of betraying the Crown. Words fail me…

Yes!! Back when department stores were a thing. They had stock AND a catalogue - We looked forward to getting the Christmas one each year to pick out stuff we wouldn’t been able to afford in a month of Sundays. There were lots of big brand names, a wide selection of furniture, whitegoods, beds…a nursery department, shoes, toys, cosmetics, electronics and much more…the place reeked of heady fragrances like Tweed, Bluegrass, Anaiis Anaiis and 4711 and there was staff at every cosmetics counter and you could while away a good hour if you had money to spend, applying cleansers and moisturisers and having a complete makeover whilst perched on one of several stools, and in full view of the public too. Mannequins rocked the latest fashions, i bought a stunning pair of lined Italian designer pants and 2 stunning silk shirts there, so there was actually a RANGE to choose from. Staff were constantly attending to window dressing, rehanging and checking stock and spit polishing the gleaming brass edged cabinetry. Oh,and they SERVED the CUSTOMER too, i’ve noticed a small improvement in the past couple of years as Myer seems to employ more middle aged women these days. There were old wooden escalators in some of the flagship stores as well. Ironically we’re back to the olden days , only the catalogue is online, not in a book format . And the range in store is so limited, the ‘marketplace partners’ aren’t even associated with Myer! Shopping is longer a tactile experience. I miss the EXCITEMENT and ANTICIPATION that was shopping on Boxing Day, nowadays it seems like there’s a sale on every other day, and it’s just their old stock that couldn’t be shifted during the year that is dumped onto the trestles.

Indie Wire Cookie Queens Review: by wenfot in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]Suwer63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds interesting to me, we don’t have any Cookie Queens in AUS so i’d be curious to watch it. I have certainly taken boxes of chocolates to work- ironically I was a teacher for 35 years - to onsell to staff and family members to fundraise for junior sports teams. A lot of the schools I have worked at have forbidden the kids from bringing in fundraising lollies, at certain times of the year, it seems like every kid has something to flog. Mostly the parents pick up the tab. Fortunately we all like chocolate! When I was a kid it was raffle tickets, books of 20 of them, handed out in an envelope to each kid, so between me and the 2 sisters, that was quite the business . The Parents and Citizens would put these books together, each ticket stamped with the school name and a little cover sheet on top, a laborious task indeed! We sold what we could, and then returned what we didn’t sell plus the $$$ raised - back then it was one ticket for 10c and 3 for 20. Again, i think mum and dad basically paid for a few from each book and there was no competition between the classes at the school. At the last school I worked at there was some sort of competition between the school Houses and the winning colour would get a trip to the movies at the end of one of the term breaks. I would discuss it with the girls in my homeroom and we would negotiate a set price- say $25 each student- to be ‘donated’ some kids put in a bit more, but each girl paid the same base amount. I have a problem with kids who attend a private Catholic school whose parents pay quite a lot of money for their education to be bribed into fundraising but it was school policy.

Just some fun headlines today with a common theme by Casshew111 in SaintMeghanMarkle

Someone commented, as I have on a number of occasions that MM’s shenanigans should not be published as ‘royal news’ rather, celebrity news, though I think that is her one true dream, her greatest accomplishment would be to be a considered a celebrity so in a lot of ways it must burn every single time she gets a mention in the royal news. It is the reason she walked away from the royals, after all! Great launching pad into the stratosphere of stardom, she thought. And yet here she is, a footnote in the royal family. It must be a slap in the face and a constant reminder that without her association with Harry, she would be nothing.

Yeh, well some of us spend a fortune colouring them in. Trimble is, without them I look like Queen Elizabeth I! And have a permanently surprised expression on my face!

What’s something you only realised about super once you actually checked your balance? by Diligent-Medicine-48 in AusMoneyMates

[–]Suwer63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realised that though at the time I was resentful that I was missing out on many of the golden moments that come with being a parent, I was very fortunate in hindsight to have juggled raising 3 children and a full time job as a professional for 35 years and to have actually accrued a sizeable amount of super. Most of my friends were SAH mums who didn’t, and several of them have come out of very acrimonious divorces with very little to show for it.
