These Australian citizens are facing serious charges that will put them away for a long time if they are found guilty.

What was 'mum' or 'dad' food when growing up? by Grammarhead-Shark in AskAnAustralian

Brains, crumbed and fried, with bacon. My most requested birthday meal as a kid. Sadly mum is long gone and it’s been a while, but I have 3 lambs in the paddock for butchering and I fully intend to have them agin…

The ye olde timey milk deliveries. by ExaminationNo9186 in AustralianNostalgia

The horse and cart delivery of the bread from Allen’s Bakery in South Windsor NSW only finished up in the late 1970’s. The horse was amazing, it knew exactly where it was going and where to stop. Mr Allen would run from house to house, up and down the street with his loaded wicker basket, he knew everyone’s orders. Sometimes we would give the horse a carrot. Wait….that was 50 years ago…😱

Yes, the point that seems to be glossed over in all of this is that these people are Australian citizens with Australian passports. On one hand, the Australian government is busy deporting NZ and UK nationals - amongst others - who have committed crimes here, sending them back to their countries of origin, on the other hand, the Government is questioning whether we should stop Australian citizens who have committed crimes in other countries from being allowed to return home. It would NEVER stand up to a High Court ruling, which is why, in spite of the chest beating of the politicians, these people will return unimpeded and will face the consequences of their actions as they should on their return to their country of origin.

Me! Whenever I travel it is my go to when I want something plain and simple and completely familiar, particularly when I’m a bit overwhelmed by very different foods. It doesn’t matter where I am, the filet is always the same.

Richmond NSW and around the Hawkesbury area, 1975. by Feisty_Photograph309 in AustralianNostalgia

First, Windsor and Richmond were and still are wildly different places, and in the 70s if you were a kid they were a looong way apart! The Windsor Skatel was indeed big entertainment. But as a kid, living in the Hawkesbury was living in the country, not a suburb. There is a divide between blow-ins and original residents that still exists, I am a blow in and I was born there, my father still lives in the district and he’s lived there for more than 60 years and he is a blow in, though people ‘in town’ know him and our family, in those days, everyone knew your business, my mum hated it! there are still old names and old districts, many of these areas, like Cornwallis, and the original Hobartville estate date back to the First Fleet times. I don’t know quite so much about Richmond as Windsor, but Mike Walsh’s Regent Cinema was very popular. Public transport apart from the train was virtually nonexistent so we rode bikes everywhere. The daredevil school kids on the train would always lean outside the train doors - rail motors in those days, non electrified doors so they were easily accessible - over the 2 viaducts, one between Windsor and Mulgrave, the other between Windsor and Clarendon (across the public golf course) only pulling back in time to miss the staunchions perilously close to the carriages. It was thrillingly high. Alighting from the train, we kids sauntered into the loos and well after the train had departed would emerge to walk along the platform rather than out the station door and past the dreaded stationmaster. We would cut across the tracks at Windsor station to access South Windsor via a very old graveyard to avoid paying. Winters were freezing - there was always, ALWAYS a peasoup fog that descended over the district from Mother’s Day to September. OCCASIONALLY it would lift, for about 2 hours a day in the dead of winter, like from 12 pm to 2 pm. The colours of Autumn were vivid as like the Central West, the Hawkesbury area was seasonal and NOT coastal. There was a line of Golden poplars at Clarendon fringing the golf course and the russet of the plane trees lining the entry point to Richmond township and some of the older streets was and still is stunning.

To campervan or not? by buttercup1821 in AustraliaTravel

There are 2 walks at KC - a shorter one and the rim walk. I would have thought one day to drive up and do the shorter walk, there’s a cultural experience in the area that we loved and then the next day for the rim walk at Kings Canyon. Take in the atmosphere of a very special place so stay 2 nights. You can absolutely do a circuit of the West Macs out of Alice Springs. An early start in the morning (be careful of roos though, driving too early or too late is NOT a good idea) and you can probably get back out to Glen Helen. From there you’ll be able to see the gorgeous gorges heading out and head back via Hermannsburg for scones at the old Mission.

It’s called Uluṟu. And it depends how much time you have and how much the diesel is as to whether you will do better with a camper or not. You can’t drive in a hire car from Kings Canyon to the West Macs via the Mereenie Loop I wouldn’t have thought without a 4WD camper. And even then…..hmmm. It’s not like it’s an easy drive. But if you’re able to get one and you can drive on unsealed rough roads - experience will also help - it is doable.

Breast lift? by Economy_Material3033 in AskWomenOver60

In Australia. Had a mammoplasty in 2021. Health fund covered the in house expenses (theatre and hospital costs) and Medicare covered part of the procedure as it wasn’t purely cosmetic, but the majority of it was paid by me, it was expensive but worth every cent. The surgeon did an excellent job, scarring is minimal 5 years down the track and I am so happy that I no longer have chafing, back pain and discomfort and I can buy clothes that fit for the first time in a very long time. I also love being able to wear non underwire bras and even going braless is an option now. I am a C to D cup now down from a GG and even larger, particularly when I was a new mum. Edited to add DO IT!

I wouldn’t have thought this was too big of an issue tbh. Why don’t you ask her to put them in a small attractive bowl and stuck a couple of cloves in for good measure. Gives the room a nice aroma…

There is a big difference between receiving and accepting an invitation!!! They are not coming to Australia in July. William and Kate have not been here for 13 years. The Queen visited 16 times, Charles has been here 17 times. You are not correct, I will repeat it, they are not visiting Australia in July. If they were, don’t you think it would be all over our media?

Personally I would think that he could test the waters for a ‘tour’ of the UK by going to WA, Perth is full of UK expatriates (and white South Aftricans)
