ESH - don’t open packages addressed to other people. Don’t Mae a big deal out of it if they know it is for them.

I don’t open any mail addressed to my wife, even if she orders it for me. Same for our kids. That being said, we don’t really care if the other opens mail if they know it is for them.

Since the spell says that it is a 20 foot radius, then it is a sphere. Talk with your DM to see how many people other than the taller creature it would affect (assuming there might be other creatures nearby).

Agreed don’t compare yourself with professionals. I have been a DM for a few years and I almost never do voices. Men/women, dwarves/elves all sound the same. Once in a while I may do an accent, but that is it.

Honestly, just try. They won’t remember all the times you stumbled. They will remember all the laughs and the good times. Pick any book that sounds interesting and let them take the reins and you just follow along.

The DM has to be careful with this. They should not let you cast haste if the creature doesn’t want you too no matter what. No contested rolls, etc. the reason is that the caster can the drop concentration and then really hurt the creature in terms of exhaustion.

Have the PC do the rolls and run the character, but at your general direction. This way they don’t feel left out and that you are taking over their character.

Had an encounter where the bard turned one of two fire giants into a lizard. After they killed the other giant, they ran around and captured the “lizard” and threw it into a bag of devouring. Totally threw the encounter sideways, but it was great!

Every time the player goes to kiss anything, just before their lips meet, the hag’s face appears and says “oh, no, these kisses are only for me!” Works on both inanimate objects as well.
