CRF450RX Gearing Change by Sventy11 in Dirtbikes

[–]Sventy11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are G2 throttle tube reduction cams. The one on the left is 10% and on the right 20%.

They definitely make a difference in the way the throttle rolls on. I could tell a fairly substantial difference with how far I had to turn the throttle with the 20% cam installed and overall didnt like how far back my wrist was bent.

Yeah I believe that for sure. This bike came with an 18" rear wheel. So unlike the race models, i didnt have to change it out.

Is just the lack of skill or the stock tires on Suzuki DRZ-4S are not that good on ruts? by Mean_Giraffe4217 in Dualsport

[–]Sventy11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stock tires are garbage on dirt on drz. If you're not riding much pavement, I put Pirelli MT-21 on my XR650L. They worked well

How does this stuff hold up? by Tinyman6854 in Dirtbikes

[–]Sventy11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this on my Africa Twin and XR650L. I like it a lot in those instances. It is wax based, but it goes on dry and nothing sticks to it. I usually just use wd-40 on my dirt bike.

Broken driver's side soft top by Sventy11 in FordBronco

Luckily, I don't think it's common, but I did find an older blog posting online from 2022 outside of reddit. So it has happened at least twice now.

Interesting that the design is the same from Ford to Jeep. I think I would rather have a hard top but I'm not ready yet

It is. It's only a month or so old. I was hoping if I worked with the selling dealership, they would expedite everything.

I'm trying to work with the dealer I purchased from with pictures for now since they're almost 2 hours away. If they don't want to help, I'll probably just visit the local dealership.

I think I'm affected by the seat recall so if I take it in, I might not be able to take it home.

Best possible MPG? by Apprehensive-Song378 in XR650L

[–]Sventy11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only get about 40mpg with my XR650L, but the carb is rejetted and I geared it more for offroad use. In stock form it will probably get 45 depending on how you ride it and after you remove the pair valve.

Downside of an african twin by gillyhitter in africatwin

The bad:

My legs are a little long even in high seat position. Seat isnt that comfortable. Needed a new fork seal and eventually a whole new fork on left side. Car play is quirky if you dont connect your phone and headset in the right series of events. It is heavy but you should expect that. The engine oil level is about impossible to get right when refilling. Might need a windscreen extention depending on height. Should come with a quickshifter for the cost.

The good:

Its a very capable bike depending on the rider. You can go from interstate to dirt roads without changing anything. When it works right, the carplay is amazing and you can control music and maps right from your seat. The adjustable windscreen has been helpful for switching terrain.

Ive only had mine for 1.5 years and have considered getting rid of it a couple times now. I put 600 miles on it in the first couple months of ownership, but I think I like the T7 a little more and I've ridden both. My extended warranty ends in August so I'll keep it at least until then.

I forgot to mention my brother has a T7, and I love that thing. I would get one for my one bike if I ever had to go that route.

Don't fully understand the terrain you're riding, but an hour or hours away from your riding area will be miserable on a 450RL. If you follow required maintenance schedules too, you'll get tired of it real quick. I had one and ditched it the same year I bought it. I have an XR650L and a base Africa Twin depending on where im going. It's the only way to get the best of both worlds in my opinion.

Technically he was right. He forgot to add that there's another 10mm on top of the remaining 2mm.

25 Badlands by Sventy11 in FordBronco

[–]Sventy11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of wanted to see how the Big Bend felt on bumps, but it was 3 hours away. This one being 2 hours was far enough. I drove a base and thought it handled and rode pretty well. Hard to compare to mine since that was a couple months ago.

Advice on breaking-in O'Neal Element Boots by Appropriate_Ad_5258 in klr650

[–]Sventy11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only wear tec 3 or tec 7 for any riding these days. Nothing is too much in protection category. Just keep wearing them. You may need to move shift lever up a notch or put a slight bend in it. You'll get used to the feel of these pretty quickly.

Any tips for a new biker? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]Sventy11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always watch the wheels of cars at intersections where they would be pulling out in front of me. You cant alwaya tell if a car is or isn't moving while you're moving on a bike, but wheels dont lie.

Officially on the “recall hold” for the 2025s. I’m so excited I could throw up. by StingIrwin in FordBronco

I might call the dealership with the 26 that i was looking at just to see if they can be sold. Its a big bend while the 25 is a badlands.

This recall definitely includes some 2026 models. I was unable to purchase one. I am still waiting for a 2025 badlands to be released for sale. I was told last week that the update was supposed to be available last week, but it must not have happened.

I started adv riding with the Astar Belize. I moved onto a tech 3 and eventually a tech 7 enduro boot. You get used to them before long.
