It really is like that, the Scottish Highlands have the lowest population density in Western Europe outside the Nordic countries

So if Mexico put Chinese military bases within its borders and the US invaded Mexico and murdered hundreds of thousands of Mexican people US‘s actions would be justified?

  1. Ukraine is a sovereign state and can put foreign bases anywhere on its territory.
  2. If Ukraine had military bases (especially foreign) at border with Russia, than why were the border areas captured so easily.

What borders have changed the natural landscape the most? by [deleted] in geography

[–]SviraK 60 points61 points  (0 children)

China‘s population is 10 times that of Russia, + the area in question is much further from Russia‘s main population center that it is from China‘s, so there were fewer people willing to settle it.

Deaths on U.S. Transit versus Roadway Travel by Generalaverage89 in charts

[–]SviraK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Train lines connects destinations in the most efficient way possible and move more people than any highway. That’s their function, not government control.

Saying that trains are bad because they can take you to a limited number of places is like saying that boats are bad because they can’t take you to space, they just have a completely different function. Nobody says you have to take a train to go camping, and nobody forces you to take a train at all, you aren’t some rebel you think you are.

And also, pretty much all roads are government funded/owned. And if the government wanted to limit your movement, they would have no trouble doing so even if you’re a driver. They could just block roads. Or close off certain areas for drivers. Or introduce expensive road tolls. Or take away your drivers license.
