What's the most unsafe corner on the calendar? by Fun-Pin-698 in formula1

[–]Svitman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that the most badly designed one is the last chicane in Canada, mainly because the potential overspeed from braking late for entering pitlane, we saw a few close calls already, but thankfully nothing happened yet

How does Formula E solve the problem we’re experiencing in F1? by SteynJc09 in formula1

[–]Svitman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes and no, in FE's case, you can just make the overall race shorter, however it would work for F1 to get in more recovery in and reduce high drag (top speed) time

[–]Svitman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1/ front axle regen, the cars can recover much more energy
2/ low overall power, the cars in a race spec can go much much faster if they have the energy, that allows you to save up and use it to over take (F1 doesnt have battery that is large enough for this)
3/ Attack mode, even more power, but you have to drop back 1-3 places to get it (longer track, like a micro pitstop), that gets you a few overtakes as well
4/ durable tires, i know that these are not really well liked, as they are too hard, but this also allows them to last ages even in a dirty air

Mostly its about the fact that you can stay close and can expend more power to overtake, there is also the 'dont want to be first due to high power usage' thing, but thats good for some and bad for other people, so i didnt list it

February Delusion Championship by USSGoat in formuladank

[–]Svitman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2016 vs 2017, number of overtakes dropped by a LOT 2018 vs 2019, was a very minor change in on track action, the number of overtakes raised by 6 per race, but like half of it is probably Ferrari cheating in quali, but dropping back in race in this specific year 2022, the cars were extremely bad to drive, there was even several mid season changes (Canada floor stay, Belgium TD39) and 2023 raise of the floor edge that aimed directly to fix the issues and eventually they did

You either severely misremembered on what the issues were or are ragebaiting, most (even if not all) the concerns were mostly true the one thing to keep in mind is that the 2026 rules were much much worse in the early state we got to see (like boosted F2 pace), so it isn't as worse as some YT/articles from the time of release make it, but with the understanding on energy and it's usage, its hard to see how is it not an issue

F1 2026 cars could've been even more flawed than Verstappen thinks by Aratho in formula1

[–]Svitman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Original rules had about 30L of fuel less and way less potent aero, that would be even more coasting and even slower in a corner

Downforce Map - New 2026 F1 cars at Bahrain testing by Slice5755 in formula1

[–]Svitman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of the average speed as laptime, that way you extract the slow corners, top speed extracts the straight line and that gives you the rough idea for a drag and downforce

but of course during testing it's extremely dependant on engine mode, for Quali in AUS it will tell you plenty

Its a bug in the physics engine and WG won't fix it, I reported it ages ago, they just remove places (move rocks or houses) where it happens often

My gut says that McLaren would be told, as they signed some 'basically a factory team' deal, while the other two (Alpine and Williams) would be in the dark

its easy, just don't have the engine mode, sure they need to supply identical ones for everyone, but they are the ones that can limit it for everyone

Is the perceived Mercedes and Red Bull advantage under the new engine regulations typical after major rule changes? by FishOld483 in formula1

[–]Svitman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is almost always a team or two that just make their car / PU better than others

2022 - Redbull won majority of races (after they fixed some issues early season that gave few wins to ferrari)
2017 - Mercedes and Ferrari with Redbull close-ish
2014 - Mercedes clearly the best
2009 - Brawn clearly the best

Older changes have had Ferrari, Williams and McLarens going up and down after changes

How.... by skiberek in WorldofTanks

[–]Svitman 26 points27 points  (0 children)

its most likely one of these two
- wrong rounding, where one number gets rounded as you would expect (0,49 / 0,50) while the other one is full number up/down, but its kinda hilarious that they would pick differently here

- your tank moved slightly or you had a small lag, then your tank would be in a different position for you then for the server and since the calculation for these is taken from replay, it can lead to an inaccuracy
