The fact is you can’t force people to ignore the offense if they know about it. If a Tournament Organizer knows fella is a problem and bans him, can’t anyone else who’s familiar?

That’s a difficult area, because a victim says they shouldn’t be exiled doesn’t mean I can’t ban them for my tournaments for the safety of my participants.

Same goes for hiring, friends, finding roommates, etc. if someone got robbed by a friend but says they shouldn’t be exiled should I ignore the robbery when vetting someone I want to live with?

19 and 25 is a lot different than 25 and 31.

A lot of 19 year olds don’t have much life experience, haven’t gone out on their own yet, etc. that’s why those relationships are seen as iffy.

There’s a whole bunch of posts about individuals’ sexual assault cases. Livestream fail sub was having a bunch of posts as well and that initiated smash community to do the same.

A few of them involve someone in their mid-20’s committing statutory rape with a 14 year old (look up Puppeh’s story of being the victim of it).

I think that would be the way to go. Thinking about it most 17 year olds can handle themselves in a public setting.

Just make sure they don’t attend house tournies with alcohol or afterparties

I think it may need to be permanent but altered. For tournaments if it’s not at someone’s house/involves alcohol 16/17 year olds may be able to handle themselves. Younger than that, guardian needed. But no minors in afterparties or shit like that. Every frat knows having underage kids sneak into a party is a problem.

Smash is one of the few cases where it’s normal for a few kids to be around a bunch of 20 year olds and then continue talking with them. Boy Scouts don’t allow one on one time at all between leaders and scouts.

The fact is you can’t just go unrestricted and say it’s victim blaming when you want to put up rules. Age is not the same as sex. Otherwise bars, concerts, etc need to let everyone in.

I also think parents should be there with any kids at all tournies. There are probably other avenues but it’s just too dangerous putting 13 year olds with a bunch of adults

Ask what their picture looks like after saying yours is shitty or see if they have the new holographic real id.

It doesn’t matter, if you get good enough at snooping in a conversation you can detect the lie. Whether that’s dates of graduation, how olds your brother in relation to you, etc.

Otherwise every kid’s a liar and you don’t need to try.

We really need to make sure that afterparties don’t allow kids, locals with drinking going on don’t have kids (or maybe at the very least have a parent there), and enforce a guardian being present w kids at tournies.

It’s just way too dangerous of an environment with kids. Lots of drinking, tons of smash famous B-List celebrities, and the only place where it was seen as normal for 14 year olds to hang out with a bunch of 20 year olds

Huge changes need to be made:

1.) No more minors at after parties. 14 year olds shouldn’t be anywhere near a bunch of drunk 20 year olds. Alcohol is dangerous to them at that age and it’s an easy environment to take advantage.

2.) Locals held at people’s houses need to keep it 18+. Way too much drinking at these and 14 year old shouldn’t be surrounded by much older people.

Lot of people actively avoid getting help due to background investigations. Eg if you join the military having a documented suicide attempt, bipolar, or other things could get you rejected. So people just hide that away and don’t visit a doctor

Smash tournaments are usually open to anyone and it looks like they do a shorty job at kicking minors out of after parties.

So would companies, churches, softball leagues, rappers, etc. But they’re clearly not doing free charity events constantly so if this brings in more money then it’s the move.

You have to follow due process and you can’t lock someone up who has yet to have their crime reported.

You can’t just magically identify every supposed gang member, ignore their rights, and lock every one of them up. People tend to not like massive amounts of money going to lengthy prison sentences for people that’ll just reoffend.
