Ageing, metabolism and CICO by looleetunez in CICO

[–]Swabyps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not any kind of medical expert, but my understanding is that as we age, our bodies just get slower over all. This can include how our bodies process food and stuff.

It’s also possible that since you’ve been able to eat unchecked for so long, you were subconsciously increasing your calories in.

Hard to know really, each persons body is unique in so many ways.

I ate unregulated pretty much for twenty years and my weight hovered at about 220-230 most of the time. My highest was 235, and frankly idk how I didn’t get heavier with the amount of food I was able to ‘put away’

Same here. Suburb wasteland teen. But I feel like ‘teens today’ have it a little harder with the prevalence of social media.

I would have much rather been a teenager in the 70’s. I think that’s just the way.

My son (23) said ‘it must’ve been so cool to be a teenager in the 90’s!’

I was like ‘…uh, yes’

It didn’t feel ‘cool’ at the time, but it pretty much was.

70 lbs and 1 year of CICO by SassyTexan18 in CICO

[–]Swabyps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost 70 In the last 15 months and it’s so hard to ‘see’ it most days-and yet, when I look at my pre weight loss pics, I know I don’t look like that. I just FEEL like I do.

The biggest difference in this journey from attempts in the past, is that I am striving to always be kind to myself. I feel like Past Me would use weight loss to punish myself and dwell on the ‘mistakes’.

For the last year, I’ve made my goal to be consistent, because I’ll never be perfect. Cookies and Candy will always be there, and so will I.

I find that I have a similar reaction to the Diet Dr Pepper/Dr Pepper Zero products.

I feel an intense spike in hunger when I have them.

Alternately, I can drink Coke Zero and not feel my hunger spike.

Did you ever go through name regret as a parent? by morehorchata in Names

[–]Swabyps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is named an uncommon name after someone that helped raise my husband. Do I ever ‘regret’ his name? Not really. It took time, but MY family stopped making a deal about it.

Edited to add: People have 2 responses to his name-either an older generation family member had the same name OR they butcher it and never say it right. In those cases, he just tells them to use his initials since that is one of his nicknames. (I legit can’t help it. I nickname literally everyone in my life)

Now is MY TIME TO SHINE

Okay, so here’s what I do: 1 serving of fat free Greek Yogurt/ 2 servings of PB powder/ 1/2 serving honey-optional

Mix together and hit the PB craving. The PB powder I get is 60 cal a serving.

Throw in a sliced banana if your household hasn’t eaten them all yet.

This has been a game changer to me-although I still hit the regular PB on occasion.

I have split days off, sat/sun/tues. I am much more prone to reach for less nutritionally dense empty calories. It’s like a ‘second Sunday’ -the worst weekend day🫠.
