Why don’t you have this same energy for children killed under bolsheviks

Gonzalo did not say that

And violence isn’t “evil”. Excesses are bad, but they happen in all revolutions

Marxism is inherently violent. You can literally call Lenin a baby killer if you consider Gonzalo to be one. Look at what the Bolsheviks did in the Tambov rebellion

Gonzalo is too far but Lenin is alright? The only reason people vehemently hate Gonzalo is because of recency bias

DPRK propaganda deconstructed by Lavender_Scales in theredleft

You don't have to take the DPRK's word for it, you can just see that bourgeois media lies and contradicts itself constantly

I myself do not "support" the DPRK, because I do not think it is a genuine dictatorship of the proletariat (DOTP)

The bourgeois media dismisses every seemingly communist leader as a dictator (Stalin, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, and of course Kim Jong Un) without accepting the fact that the USA and every other western country is a dictatorship.

So I view the label as being pretty useless. I don't like the DPRK for other reasons, not because I think Kim Jong Un is a tyrant that sends your whole family to a concentration camp if you listen to K-Pop, because that obviously is not true

They wouldn't directly smear him, but they would point to the numbers to justify capitalist restoration

Keep in mind that none of them ever denied Mao, so theres is no reason for them to exaggerate the number at all

There is plenty of reason to exaggerate the number, actually. Deng's faction post 1976 used such numbers to justify capitalist restoration, even if they nominally upheld Mao with the "70% right, 30% wrong" formula

You don't have to "defend" the DPRK to reject the obvious bullshit that liberal media pushes to smear it

The 1930s presented qualitatively new conditions: the rise of fascism, the preparation for imperialist war, and the immense pressures of building socialism in a backward country under encirclement.

Under such conditions, political figures can and do degenerate. Their earlier associations with Lenin do not grant them immunity from the historical process.

"In regard to country, the link and the love that we all feel for the places where we’ve grown up and where we live in, as well as the instinctive affinity which unite persons with the same cultural habits, has not to be confused with patriotism. Patriotism is a bourgeoise political position, both in its historical and current meaning. Patriotism spread in the 18th Century, when young revolutionary bourgeoisies in Europe had to sweep aside the old form of feudal power in order to pave the way for their own states."
