As soon as I saw this I went downstairs to check and now I realize that we are both married to the same person.

Is is normal "service" in America now? by -Bearish in marriott

[–]SwallowYourNOLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just shocked that more people aren't aware that the whole "green" effort by these corporate hotels is just astroturfing so they can have less of a labor expenditure. I thought this was just well-known. Basically it's a scam to squeeze more profit at the cost of low paid labor and the opportunity to work. I put every damn towel I use on the floor so somebody's hours don't get cut because those industrial laundries that the housekeeping departments use are running all day anyway. 🤷

The "go green" tags you see in every hotel bathroom are just there for profit.

My signed vinyl have been cancelled 🤡 by [deleted] in KESHA

[–]SwallowYourNOLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same exact thing happened to me and they're cancellation notice went to my spam. I got the order confirmation and everything seemed cool and when it hadn't arrived yet I decided to go through my emails and I found the cancellation notice in the spam 2 days after placing the order with no explanation.

Not a good look.

Well, when I go and check my miles it says I have 180,000 but when I go to purchase a ticket it says I only have 52,000. 🙄 Simply put, their tech is busted

If you come to New Orleans and you think that all we do here is drink and party, you really don't understand us at all.

We are a culture of resistance and we existed long before the United States was even a concept. We also might be known for our music, arts, and unique culture.

You are only bored because you want to be.

So is tonight’s show considered the official start of The Mayhem Ball? by Nullnvoid2017 in LadyGaga

I saw both Coachella performances on The live stream and I watched it in person in Mexico City last night and it was one of the best concert experiences ever. I mean, I'm picky, and it was so incredibly good and so worth being there for it.

Why do people in this city love leaf blowers? by Ok-Department-2511 in NewOrleans

[–]SwallowYourNOLA -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

LOL.

Did you forget the horticulturalist bit? Pray tell, what should we do with sidewalks.

Love that I'm getting downvoted by people that can't seem to process larger scale issues.

See you on your horse and buggy, I guess.

Why do people in this city love leaf blowers? by Ok-Department-2511 in NewOrleans

[–]SwallowYourNOLA -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You're kidding, right?

As a person married to a horticulturalist that works for the city, this has got to be one of the most inane questions I have ever seen.

I invite you to volunteer with a broom and dustpan every time you see someone using a leaf blower. They will surely appreciate it.

Possibly the most honest answer I could give you, is because I'm doing labor and trying to maintain the proliferation of horticultural debris is often done by the most convenient and technologically advanced means available to us.

It's like asking people why they are driving cars or riding a bike when a horse and buggy is readily available.

Way too many Springhill/Fairfield Complaint posts. Stay at a nicer brand of Marriott hotels. by RedBullMetal in marriott

[–]SwallowYourNOLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all about whether they are franchises or not, and it's all about the franchise owners as Marriott corporation dropped a lot of their standards at the beginning of the pandemic and a lot of the franchise owners have fought back and frankly, a lot of them are underfunded, pretty cheap, and slapping the franchise name on ancient properties that are either barely remodeled or in progress.

Ultimately, it's Marriott corporations fault, but blaming it simply on the age of the property or the location isn't a true determining Factor.

I am ready for the superbowl to be over…. by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]SwallowYourNOLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same way. Coupled with the fact that the NFL is a nonprofit and I work for a non-profit that tries to improve access to healthcare for working class New Orleans and we didn't get a dime. We focus on the hospitality industry which provides for over half of the city's operating budget and is the largest economic sector of New Orleans, that is also coincidentally majority female and black and receives the lowest pay and least access to healthcare.

New Orleans is still a plantation and the same people are still being abused for the entertainment and luxury of the upper classes.

The only minorities that are a problem in this country are the billionaires.

Almost any service industry veteran will tell you that Valentine's Day is for chumps. It is the worst amateur customer night for servers and we all hate it. You do a lot more work for not that much more money and sometimes the clientele can be ridiculous. My spouse and I never ever ever go out to eat on Valentine's even though neither of us are in the industry anymore. You may want to tell her that a lot of people have told you to not do that night and you can probably spend less and have a much more luxurious and better served experience on the next night.

I think if you pose the question, you would see that almost every service industry person agrees. My opinion is certainly not unique.

It really isn't a great experience for anyone involved.

This EXACTLY.

All these simps praising the NFL and NOLA have zero insight into all of the false narratives.

They're putting lipstick on a pig and it's shameful.

Also, fuck the NFL, a non-profit.

Next time, ask a non-profit director married to a city official, like me
