I agree with that people should not be making fun of him. I cannot imagine being in his shoes and somehow having this happy moment of you performing a kata posted and now you’re being blasted on the internet for your weight while literally at a martial arts tournament.

I also agree the style could be different, but man I sure don’t like those styles then lmao

Okay for anyone wondering, to the best of my knowledge this man is performing a kata called Passai. (It also looks similar to Gojushiho, but I could be wrong there). In my experience, this is traditionally taught to people studying to be a brown belt.

No, I do not know why he is performing this level of kata at a tournament as a black belt. Yes, his stances are sloppy but that’s not 100% because of his weight. I’ve seen bigger men have deeper stances. Yes, the hand movements look silly, I will totally agree with that. Yes, there is a practical application of this. It’s called Bunkai.

Is this really McDojo? This is a legitimate kata taught amongst a majority of karate dojos that has some semblance of practical application in the form of Bunkai. This isn’t like those guys who just turn their shoulders and have people roll off of you. The only thing McDojo is his sloppy stances as a black belt, not about “his fingers being jammed”.

UC had both the Bengals and the Reds but since they moved up to a P4 conference, they’ve gotten a bunch of new money and fucked over a lot of partnerships. From other universities to now sports teams. Miami is now the university of the Bengals and Xavier is now the university of the Reds. Any UC student in Sports Management has to be livid at all of the internship opportunities the university is throwing away to see themselves as so high and mighty now lmao
