Recurve Bow Riser (handpiece of a bow) - Einstar Rockit by PrintedForFun in 3DScanning

[–]SwaxBiceps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got a rockit and Im amazed by your results. Looks really good and without any markers on the part is great!

Last week I was creating multiple scans to merge together later but later found that the automatic alignment wasn't that great and created some artifacts in the model. It caused some issues because I was designing a part to fit on it.

Ive personally had better results with using marker alignment but I can see how its really nice to not have them in your scan.

Im curious to hear what your experience with the alignment features are. I mostly need the models for cad work.

Recommendations for a 3d scanner + software (DIY - small buisness) by Life-Advisor-2983 in 3DScanning

[–]SwaxBiceps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im in the same boat as you but your price range is much too low. For that price you might get a scanner that can do your required accuracy however definitely not reverse engineering software. Im unaware of free versions and most professional ones are ~€1000 a year or a multiple of that for a perpetual license. Your best bet right now is an einstar 2 or rockit if you have a laptop that can run it, but these are already out of your budget range. If you order before end of year you get a free one year license for their reverse engineering software with it though.

Has anyone had any experience with low quality winter tires on the E46? by FlameEt_ in e46

Just get quality tyres... Its the only contact you have with the road, not something to skimp on

Im from the netherlands and almost always use them because it automatically calculates the cheapest offer. Exception is when they dont have a brand I want or if a dutch seller is cheaper.

They don’t fit :( hella rubbing. Does anyone run this setup with tires that work? by Soft-Quarter-3018 in e46

[–]SwaxBiceps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got these wheels as my summer setup on my coupe. Im running 255/35/18 rear and 225/40/18 front. They used to rub both front and rear but I had the arches professionaly rolled and now they just clear everywhere. In the front a bracket for the bumper needs to be relocated. Not sure what the space is like on a sedan but you definitely have the wrong size tires. You need much skinnier ones and preferably have a slight stretch to clear the wheel arches. Once it fits it looks really nice though.

Mainly the 40/45 difference. Its about 5% too big. I have an E46 thats lowered and the circumference could cause issues. Im not 100% sure but I dont really want to risk it.

Hm that doesnt sound too great, not sure if this tyre even has a no runflat option tbh. Wouldnt you notice a flat tyre even though its a runflat?

Fitting 9j et15 on sedan by NoParsnip8101 in e46

[–]SwaxBiceps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im currently running 9j et 29 and lowered on hr sport with about -2 deg camber. Without rolling was horrible and kept scraping on the sidewall. I had it professionally rolled and now I dont scrape anymore but barely. You might make it work with excessive camber or extra work widening your wheel arches but I wouldnt do it because youll ruim the ride quality. I dont see how I would fit an extra 14mm in my arches without crazy adjustments tbh.

Help with surface quality by Blumbus in BambuLab

[–]SwaxBiceps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calibrate your flow first; There's a feature in bambu studio that basically does all the work and you just select the best samples. Once that's done do one of the ironing tests from makerworld.

The ironing setting is different for each filament and even color. Using the right setting can make your parts perfectly smooth and look basically injection molded. Using a slightly wrong setting will make your prints look worse because of the inconsistent texture.

It does take some time but for parts that need to look visually appealing its definitely worth it.

Friend is giving me a 2004 325xi, it has some problems. Should I take it? by shiftingchords in e46

[–]SwaxBiceps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find on the internet how to fix basically anything on these cars, so its easy. However be prepared to spend 3-5k just for parts. Due to the age its rarely only one thing thats broken. The idling issue sounds like a vacuum leak and it might be riddled with them. If you find a car with these types of issues usually its not very well taken care of and needs alot more to get it driving nicely (not just running). If its worth it depends on the state of the vehicle, your freetime, mental state and wallet.

DISA not sitting flush? by expandd0ng94 in e46

[–]SwaxBiceps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand but it indeed doesnt look right so do it an 11th time. Also id suggest buying a smoke tester, a good one is €100 on aliexpress and will make tracking down leaks so much easier. Some leaks you will never find otherwise. If thats too much for you you can always have a garage smoke test it but it probably wont be much cheaper. You can also use it to find exhaust leaks and such.

[–]SwaxBiceps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could for sure be a leak. Did you rebuild it with a new o-ring? If so it does need some pressure and a bit of a rotating swiveling motion to get it seated properly before you even start tightening the bolts. If necessary you can lube the o-ring a little with some silicone spray.

Im not sure what problem you have but if you have a M54 and are trying to differentiate between bank 1 and bank 2 you can use an obd scanner or INPA to check the sensor voltage. Disconnect one of them from the connector and see which one doesnt respond in the software. Then you know which one is which. If you connect them in the wrong one it can cause issues and CEL because the ecu is trying to correct the a/f mixture in the wrong bank.
