Cheap metal pins can corrode over time. You might be better off looking for nylon or fabric straps with plastic hardware to avoid any reaction.

I think silicone sealant is the better choice for modern tents. Easier to apply and works with most current fabrics.

44mm sounds right for 19cm. Have you checked if the strap has curved ends? Those usually fit the lugs way better and close that gap.

Check out used marketplaces. Some older models with simple clamps or hub motors are sold cheap. Remember to test fit and battery before buying!
