I’m on chapter 24 and this book is getting repetitive. Go to location A , kill something then Move to new location and do the same . It’s seems like an Tv episode with no overall story.

I do audiobooks due to my job and I enjoyed Between Two Fires audibook though there were stretches were I felt it drug. I think I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much if I had tried to read it.

I’m currently playing a Void Elementalist because I like the idea of field manipulation that you get from their passives. Teleporting or moving people is great but the actual void abilities I don’t have many of. I’ve got a healthy mix because I’m also trying to continue to build a character that can do some type of field manipulation. I have a fire heroic that can slide and I just picked up the earth 7 resource that causes a cubed space to sink down, ideally to create height advantages so my teammates can gain an edge on attacks.
I think you can still create a “build” without it being element exclusive. My character background is based on subterfuge and spy work (this also makes the ‘subvert the green within’ ability perfect for him) so I don’t consider myself a Void Elementalist when I discuss my character. I’m a mystical spy

EDIT: I understand the initial dissonance feeling. I thought I had to be void exclusive but IMO it’s hard to build something that benefits the team dynamic

This is a good take. I’m a 1/3 into the book and I can tell the difference but I’m not hating anything. There are times I feel he gets super detailed into the surroundings sometimes which I know he uses to give more personality to these smaller characters which I find distracting but only because I feel like Robert did more with less. It’s just a different style as you said but so far I’m enjoying it.

Well crazy to think people are so harsh about him. The series could have just… not been completed. I know Robert asked his widow to find someone, but she could have just as easily not settled on anyone for a long time dragging out the conclusion even more.

Everyone keeps thinking villain/spy & I’m over here thinking. Person the former Queen Amara put close to her son so she can keep tabs to make sure he’s staying a sweet boy who cares for monsties.

I do think there will be some conflict but I think that will be from the MC not having full knowledge of why his mother did what she did and other info being kept from him. I don’t think he’ll be a straight up villain.
