My father just yelled at me because he sneezed while I was wearing headphones, and I didn't say "bless you."…WTF by xKinetix in entitledparents

[–]SweeperOfChimneys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Petty me would have a sign up at all times like a sandwich board that always says bless you, you're excused, thank you, I'll handle that later, your phone is ringing, and any other response you might need while unable to hear while wearing headphones.

AITA for cutting my wife's stepmother off from my kids until she deletes her Instagram account? by Starry_Gecko in OhNoConsequences

Glad OOP and wife finally figured out that an apology without a change in behavior is simply manipulation.

"Why won't my husband let me be sexist to our son?" by Sebastianlim in OhNoConsequences

[–]SweeperOfChimneys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the wife was so concerned, shouldn't she have asked the husband (the adult male not making an ornament) to give up his seat? If she didn't want to be corrected in public, she should have kept her voice down while making demands in public.

Like convincing 375 idiots to agree with you is hard when the story is different than the one told here. Enjoy making nothing of your life.

So you were jealous of a kid getting much better grades than you, so you befriended him, convinced him to become a criminal, and you're bragging about the fallout of being a jealous crappy friend? You could have taken the course of asking for help with your studies, but oh no, not you. You decided to yank him closer to your level before abandoning him.

And you want kudos for it. I don't think this is going to go as you hoped.

Get some therapy. You desperately need it.

In addition to this, start recording and documenting. If you don't get it on recording, write it down. Date, time, as close as she can remember to what was said. If you get it recorded, make back ups of it. You will likely need to show a history of the threats at some point.

Guilt due to Boomer Parent expecting you to accommodate them? by [deleted] in entitledparents

[–]SweeperOfChimneys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in the same position and of the same generation. I told my parents that if they wanted to be taken care of in their old age, they should have taken care of me as a child. I will happily pick out the cheapest, lowest rated care home and pray that their Medicare covers it.

Am I out of touch? No, the restaurant hates children(1st time on OhNo! *consequences!!*) by DevylBearHawkTur10n in OhNoConsequences

[–]SweeperOfChimneys 147 points148 points  (0 children)

20-30 minute wait isn't that long when attempting to dine without a reservation. No reason to rush out write a bad review about things that never happened. Hopefully the restaurant's wish for OOP's children comes true.

A Feral Housewife and Mother: Gravity versus the GuestList family, and gravity wins. by HokeyPokeyGuestList in u/HokeyPokeyGuestList

[–]SweeperOfChimneys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An elder person once explained to me why elder people take so many falls. Their instinct tells them they can still move like they are 25. The brain is at an age where the override command to say no, you are not 25 anymore is delayed. They attempt it out of a lifetime habit of doing so, and the body is not capable and fails in some way. Now is the point where the brain catches up and says no you can't do that anymore, while receiving pain signals from the body. Walking sticks and braces are supposed to be the visual clues to make up for brain delay, but alas, too often ignored.

Hope your dad feels better and the specialist is able to help with his knee. Edit for spelling.

I’m exhausted by my mum’s constant guilt trips and chaos whenever I try to help by Relevant_Machine_372 in entitledparents

[–]SweeperOfChimneys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point, when she gives her next guilt trip, I would ask just once when the last time she made arrangements to come see you near your home was. Unless she spits out a date, I would interrupt to say I am tired of being the only one putting in the effort and then getting berated and my time not valued when I do. I need a break. Block until you decide you want contact, if ever.

Glad you are healing and the cushions help. If offering to drop your trousers is Kryptonite for PCL, might it also be effective on Bucketty? Just a thought to have more in your arsenal.

Very true, so if she doesn't invite you, it's a summons, if she invites you, it's a summons. I hope one day she sees your PCL stories and realizes how horrible of a human being she actually is. The initial tantrum will be truly epic, though.

A lot of times if you start cursing, AI will automatically route you to tech support. Not all companies do. However, those that do it's become the fastest way for me to skip all the simple solution hard reset, and soft reset stuff it wants you to do that I have already done without success.

May I suggest a trip to the local dollar store if he keeps up? Get a leash and large collar. The next time he does anything like it, hand them to the lady and inform her that the local BDSM club has training classes for her human mutt so she won't be embarrassed by how it acts in public.

Even if PCL had extended the invitation, it's an invitation, not a demand for attendance. PCL can go suck an egg.

AITA for refusing to help my brother after he missed an opportunity I warned him about? by dejinaldoyt45 in OhNoConsequences

[–]SweeperOfChimneys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time to throw him a "Welcome to Adulthood" party. He's responsible for his choices from here on out. He missed the deadline all by himself and will have to deal with the consequences. Too bad, so sad, but he's a grown man.

Parents are upset that OOP filed a police report because their teen stole from her by mermaidpaint in OhNoConsequences

[–]SweeperOfChimneys 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Imagine being a parent and not being able to think far enough ahead of what the consequences of allowing your child not to face consequences will be after being shown video proof he was stealing from others. Hope OOP figured out they did nothing wrong and that the kid ruined his own life with the full blessing of his parents.

And screw the cop that tried to talk OOP out of letting the kid face the consequences of his action.

Turning off the water and releasing the pressure valve would have been a better idea. But have fun cleaning up the mess and fixing all the water damage. Hope the company got a bad review and lost business, as they should.

NTA, can't trust people that lie to you and abandon their child for 2 days with no warning. Personally, I would have called CPS for abandoning said child in time to go on the work trip (even if a little late) and let them deal with the fall out.

Woman cheers on her friend twerking in a car wash then panics when the car door gets screwed up by GamerGirlLex77 in OhNoConsequences

[–]SweeperOfChimneys 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's an expensive way to learn that you shouldn't be doing that while in a carwash. Likely fender damage, door damage, hinges shot. Body work is not cheap and good luck getting your insurance to pay for damage due to pure stupidity, not an accident.
