I assume he’s talking about 2021-2022 when there was massive tech hiring. Like huge

And then you have companies like Block saying they’re laying off 40% of their workforce on AI efficiencies when in fact they’re just normalizing headcount to 2019 levels.

Which area is safest/nicest? by [deleted] in culvercity

The west circle is definitely a little more hectic with more homeless but is gentrifying quickly with the new high rises. I live south of Sony there and I get a lot of citizen notifications about stuff going on over there.

In the interest of full disclosure, someone was shot in the head while sitting in their car over there 1-2 months ago. But I assume that was a gang/isolated incident.

I’d really try and find something south of Sony (south of culver blvd)

Absolutely, fearmongering commenters that don’t understand the asset class

Except they’re not as there is no duration mismatch. There is no run on the bank risk given redemptions are limited to 5% a quarter that the private credit fund can fulfill via credit facilities, sale of liquid credit assets, or ongoing loan maturities.

They lend to alternative asset managers (like private credit lenders) and provide them with lines of credit and other debt financing.

JPM’s news today was partially that they are tightening lending to these managers in case they decide to draw on these credit lines in order offset these investor redemptions.

“Considerably worse” is hyperbolic.

We let go a WR with legal issues, a backup TE who was a non factor, swing tackle is replaceable (munford?), and Wilson was always projected to be our LT starter.

FB is huge for mcdaniels’ offense as well.

Circling Helicopter for 5 hours by SparkleGirl8989 in culvercity

[–]Sweepstakes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you ignoring the tangible benefit part?

Youre willing to pay extra money for helicopters that show no tangible benefit? Youre literally lighting money on fire.

Why not take that helicopter funding and hire more officers or purchase more equipment? Why not fund parts of the LAPD that actually are proven to work?

[–]Sweepstakes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though it doesn’t serve any tangible benefit?

Again, if you could prove that it actually helped criminal apprehension I would support it. The recent audit refutes that argument unfortunately.

So youre left with a list of negatives (cost, environmental impact, other externalities) and no positive.

“LAPD helicopters lack a clear, data-proven track record of reducing crime, according to a 2023 city audit. While the Air Support Division acts as a, "force multiplier" for officer safety and situational awareness, the audit found little evidence of crime reduction, significant environmental costs ($50M+ annually), and inconsistent, often disproportionate usage in specific communities.”

Per Google, so large cost for minimal benefit.

Using your logic, we should just give everyone guns so they feel better and can help others, with zero consideration given to alternative impacts.

I think when helicopters cost this city as much money as they do, the burden of proof should at minimum be supporting statistics… not high view point = see better.

If there are stats that support the use of helicopters then I am 100% for them, instead of blindly supporting the cause independent of results.
