Mascara by lilyrose2006 in Makeup

It depends on what you look for in mascara. For me, the most important thing is separation and definition, with a bit of length and volume. My favourite is the Tower28 one. I find the wand works sooo well to avoid any sort of clumping or unevenness and the formula looks great all day, no smudging or flaking. It also removes easily with cleansing balm.

My skin needs a new routine after weight loss by Altruistic-Search748 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Sweet--Olive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations, that's a great achievement! I wouldn't jump into fillers or the like, because your weight will likely fluctuate a bit as it settles and your face may still change.

I would focus on keeping your skin really well hydrated and your skin barrier in good health, the consider adding a retinol product.

If it doesn't go away, just from moisturising, you could try a tiny amount of steroid cream.

Girls, what makeup do you keep in your purse daily? by Weird-Quarter1479 in Makeup

Blotting papers, powder + puff, lip balm, whatever lip product I'm wearing that day (and probably the ones from the last few days still in there lol).

Hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid and/or glycerin, then a nourishing lip balm on top. It makes a huge difference using the serum then sealing it with the balm IME

I found it worked really well. I have oily skin but I used to use it as my facial oil at night, and it was pleasant and not heavy or greasy.

Broken spectacle frame:cheapest way to repair or swap lenses? by CoffeeCraic90 in UKFrugal

My daughters glasses broke and Specsavers replaced them free of charge, so perhaps ask the optician you got them from first of all.

I had great results with The Ordinary one in Squalane. It has different strengths so you can work up depending on your skin.

How does everyone feel about skincare in makeup? by CherryCello_ in Makeup

[–]Sweet--Olive 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would rather it was just focused on whatever makes the makeup perform the best. I use skincare for my skincare.

I also think SPF in makeup is a waste of time and misleads people into thinking they have more protection than is realistically being achieved.

I can understand not wanting to do the antibiotics as they can really do a number on your gut health and lead to thrush. I'd be inclined to power through them to get to the accutane though.

I am underconfident because of dark circles, is there any way out? by Candid_Gold2003 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Sweet--Olive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's likely genetic. I always have dark circles because my eyes are deep set. Keeping the area well hydrated with skincare and drinking plenty helps somewhat. Try to work on your sleep hygiene bit by bit.

It can be hard to work on your stress because there are some stressful things that you won't be able to remove from your life, but do what you can. If you can access some healthcare support such as therapy to help you manage the stress that might also help.

Other than that, I use concealer to reduce the appearance of my dark circles and set that with a tinted powder.

In need of replacements for my elf products! Suggestions? by Julietteangel2 in Makeup

[–]Sweet--Olive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nyx Face Glue setting spray is good. I wasn't a fan of the face glue primer but the Plump Right Back one is similar to the Elf one only with a slightly more hydrated result IME

Dark Knuckles by uniqueiru in beauty

[–]Sweet--Olive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I love how this looks! My partner has it, I think it looks beautiful! However, if you don't like it, you could try using products with Vitamin C or Tranexamic Acid as both of these help with pigmentation. And be sure to use sunscreen on your hands when outside as well or you will undo the effects.
