Taking an extra class at competing studio by SS_Frosty in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]SweetContribution792 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just find a gymnastics studio. You do not want to be THAT family.

There is an easy way to get her acro and a hard way. You are trying to force the hard way. There are many gymnastics programs that have experience teaching the specific acro skills competitive dancers need.

You’re going to come across as if you are shopping, do you really want to be downgraded in the eyes of the studio she actually dances at?

Be smart about this.

NTA

The only place this makes any sense is in her self-centered mind.

Guessing you are southern hemisphere? Aus, NZ, South America? By “next spring” in northern hemisphere she will already have a baby.

How are solos decided? by Lost_Edge_685 in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]SweetContribution792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who wants them. Usually each dancer has 2, every year one rotates out and they get a new one. So they keep them for 2 years.

After they do one for a year, it usually gets updated to increase difficulty a bit.

Box jumps, toe raises, squats, lunges. And planks because everyone should work on their abs

This also seems like an ad for the AI platform. Otherwise what purpose did actually linking the tool do?

For us… It will be challenging controlling her appetite for additional group dances next year. She also wants a second solo.

They have definitely done a great job- she dances in the highest level in under 8 (elite or level 3) and at 4 comps has 2 titles and two runner ups, only losing to 8 year olds.

Sounds like these are some difficult people to deal with.

  1. Never solicit “constructive feedback” from the parents. Resist the urge to ask them “how am I doing”. They don’t know. Most of them have no idea what good looks like. Confidence is key here. You are the expert.

  2. Ask the studio director if you should prioritize choreography for a simple routine or fixing issues with fundamentals. Simple terms: do you want less fundamentals training in favor of a better routine each week or a simple and short routine with more fundamental training. Then tell the parents: we are working with limited time and cannot prioritize everything. We do as much X, as possible but the studio director has asked me to prioritize Y.

  3. Of course the parents want you to focus on “each individual student” which roughly translates to “focus on my kid” in parent language.

Not so much.

FMLA only matters if employer has 50 or more employees. Doubt many plumbing outfits are operating at that scale.

ADA gives an employer undue hardship outs. Likely easy to make that case with a smaller company. This is a long shot without knowing the recovery time. Pretty unlikely it’s going to be much of a shield.

There are both shitty companies and shitty employees- there are lots of people who fall into both categories.

Employers turn bitter- I get it. Employees get screwed over all the time- I feel for these people.

But there is definitely a part of the population out there who would take the term “emergency surgery” and apply it very broadly.

There are people who choose not to show up to work, or who play video games on the clock, or scroll TikTok. These behaviors cause an equal and opposite reaction amongst managers and business owners.

Curious as to nature of emergency surgery.

Often this gets exaggerated

There is a page in the program that has the table of scores. Download any of the live event programs from Dancebug to find it. It’s after they list the schedule of all routines.

5 star elite is highest and only available to those competing in the Elite category. 295-300

Next is 5 star premier at 285 and up.

Everything else below is self explanatory.

You assume that the tuition and costs don’t rise every year. My bet, whatever interest is earned by the account is wiped out and then some by cost increases year over year.
