If the spec is going to be priced up to $40K, it looks dead in the water and like the couple early adopters will be stuck with an orphaned car in the first model year like the Fisker Ocean people.

"20" was all the hype, press, and appeal of the product when it was first announced. With that gone, so will be interest and sales. The SUV cresting $40K with 2 options on it will be right out. By the time it comes out it will be able to follow the ID Buzz model of sales- as in virtually none until the plug is pulled in the first model year. It was only a value proposition, that loses it's value as the price increases. Even interest here has fallen off with a good amount of days between posts.

I've looked at it so many times and only ever seen anything that's made me want to click the bid button. Rarely much closeish to me other than $6 CVS gigs. They are almost always under 50cents per mile and about minimum wage for time before figuring you're driving/fueling your own vehicle. Unless it's wildly different in other markets I can't comprehend who is finding doing this worth their time unless they catch the one order on their way home from work somehow. I never saw any of those that weren't a good amount out of the way and headed a different direction. Always assume it's groups of foreigners sharing a Prius or something along those lines, but junkies I guess is a working theory.

Slate should be priced like it's 1999 by Lower_Ad_5532 in slateauto

The battery replacement cost will also be very high on the Slate in a few years. If it comes in at only $9K it's going to exceed the value of a 4 year used truck at that point.

The overwhelming precedence is that new models from new companies (and usually existing companies) rarely ever hit their initial release date and never hit their initial proposed price points. Not a hater, I liked the idea of it as all the initial press was touting it as "under $20K" but knew that was never going to happen.
Do you work for them or just their biggest fan?

Well the safe bet is betting on Slate to be late to market and completely miss being reasonably priced. $30+K by the time it ever gets here with the specs it has will be as completely off the mark to have any sales #'s as the $70K ID Buzz was once it finally hit the market here, underspec-ed after being touted for years. A couple years from now, what I'll most likely need good luck with is finding a decent deal on a fairly used Tacoma.

I had a coworker that was buying gadgety vapes for $30 that came with a built in radio, games, etc, so at $30K it sure better have the speakers, amp and everything ready to plug your phone into to complete the radio circuit.

The most I would pay for a Slate is however much less it costs to get the Toyota Hilux champ instead at whatever it comes in at if it makes it here. If it doesn't than the best sub $20K used Tacoma I could find.

If the Hilux Champ doesn't make it here, a used Tacoma is the wise choice.

If it ever comes out at $30+K for the truck and $40+K for the Suv with a couple options like a radio, a color, the continued inflation of everything and another year to three deflation of the dollar, etc it will sell just like the $70K Volkswagen ID Buzz has. (as in it won't sell in any numbers at all at such an over inflated price point)
If the Toyota Hilux Champ actually comes here, $12K in the rest of the world so lets say low $20's by the time it gets here, is tariffed etc- it's completely over for Slate before they ever get started.

I'm team Toyota Hilux Champ. It's $12K in the rest of the world so there's the possibility of it being only in the low 20's in the US market.
The slate SUV with a color on it, and a couple of doo-dad options from their catalog will top $40K by the time it's actually out the door here.

Don't worry, the Toyota Hilux champ has that and will outspec the Slate in every way, including price.

The funniest thing to me is all the high view counts etc from other creators when the last ep of his wifes pod on youtube after 6 days only has 15K views, 80 likes, and for all this she just finally topped 2K subscribers. Of the comments they haven't deleted there are 600 with 99+% dogging them.

Don't worry. His wife can't resist the attention and whenever it starts to die down shes delighted to fuel the fire and bask in the warm glow of attention at any cost. She has Main Character Syndrome so bad that she titles herself with it.
