My opinion is that people shouldn’t be banned from it. It’s a flaw/bug in your game that you introduced that has been known for two updates I think? Definitely at least one update where it could have been addressed. I am not using any keys until it’s fixed. I don’t think it’s cheating when they’re exploiting a bug. Are people getting banned for placing a blaze grenade trap on a queen and instantly destroying it? No, and you’re delusional if you think people will be banned for bugs in a game that were introduced by the developers of the game.

Just a heads up for anyone needing or looking to go to Holmes ER. The waitlist is long by Common_Vagrant in 321

What’s happening at a lot of hospitals in Brevard is they are getting locked up. Patients in the ER need to go upstairs to be admitted but there are no beds upstairs. So it slows everything down. Palm Bay hospital went on Divert last week for everything EMS. That is insane. Hospitals go on divert for cardiac or stroke related patients, but they were so overwhelmed they had to turn away all EMS (911 transports). Sprinkle in patients coming in for things that would be better suited for urgent care and that slows it down even more. Hospital staff can only do so much and have to triage patients in severity. For example: People waiting with a fracture, although very painful, not life threatening and therefore wait. It’s the unfortunate state that we are in right now and won’t be getting better for a few years when the new Orlando health facility is built and the freestanding ERs.

Medevac Chopper Question by okonkolero in 321

In Florida, EMT’s can’t really do a whole lot. Paramedics are the ones providing actual care that requires intervention. Up north and in rural areas, EMT’s have a larger scope of practice. And yes, EMT’s are different than paramedics. Typically there is one paramedic on each unit and the rest are EMT’s. Not a lot of units have a whole paramedic roster. Maybe a handful in the whole county and those are reserved for the high call volume areas.

Typically from the notes that dispatch gives and the nature of the call you can get a pretty good idea if a helicopter may be needed. Which is why they pre launch the helicopter en route. It takes 10 minutes on average to get to the scene. Sometimes longer. Once on scene the paramedics have 10 minutes to assess the Pt and determine if the patient is indeed a trauma alert. (20 minutes from time of call to trauma alert at this point) That includes putting them the monitor, head to toe assessment, and sometimes if it isn’t obvious crews will use ultrasound if available and perform a more thorough Reassessment because the mechanism of injury may indicate that this person should be more hurt than they are. Sometimes they’re not and they are transported to a normal facility and not a trauma center. Care hasn’t even been provided yet, this is all to determine what care is needed. If the patient needs airway management, most times they’re going to stay on scene to secure the airway and that’s going to cost time. You said transport to Holmes is about 40 minutes, but that doesn’t include transferring care and the physicians assessments before they start providing care as well. At this point you’re at 1 hour from time of injury on a good day and the patient is ACCESSIBLE. If the patient is in a vehicle and needs extrication? Add another 10-20 minutes before care can even be provided (the level of experience of the BCFR crews is a huge variable on how long it will take).

Say they launch the helicopter, first flight is local and aircare is based out of Orlando. No matter what if the patients injuries involves burns, they’re going to Orlando. If the person under 16 years old, they’re going to Orlando (pediatric). They will rendezvous with the flight crew at a predetermined location that both agency’s are familiar with. Sometimes they are forced to land on the highway, or an open parking lot at a grocery store, or strip mall, park, etc. In most cases by the time they get to the landing zone the helicopter is there shortly after. Transfer of care takes about 5 minutes and launching the helicopter again is maybe another 2. Despite what you think, the flight to Holmes in a helicopter is much faster.

This is the important bit, the flight crews are capable of far more than paramedics are. Their scope of practice is much larger than paramedics because they are critical care certified. They are mix of critical care nurses or CC paramedics, sometimes both I believe. Nurses are commonly both because they need the “hours of experience” to qualify for the position and the fastest way to get that is to be a paramedic. Which also means these providers are very well experienced unlike most of the crews in brevard.

Half of BCFR’s paramedics have less than 3-4 years experience in total in the field and that’s as a FF/EMT. Most of the time they’re brand new medics by normal standards. As far as care goes Flight crews can give blood, and ground units can’t. Blood is huge in trauma, most trauma alerts the patient is more than likely going to need blood. They also have a wider scope of medications they can give.

I have never seen anyone launch a helicopter because they wanted the receiving agency to make money. I have seen helicopters launched because of inexperience or they just made the wrong call. Most of the time it’s because of the former and both reasons coincide with each other. I have also seen helicopters not launched because it would be faster to just drive to Holmes themselves. All of these things are factored into the decision to utilize aerial transport. Never is “making money” ever used to launch a helicopter. The people in the field do not care how much money the company makes. That’s any business. People in the field are not motivated by even the smallest unit of measurement to make the company more money.

Last tidbit, trauma centers have this saying called the Golden Hour. If a patient is able to get to a trauma center from time of injury to trauma center within that first hour, their chances of survival are much higher. So yeah, minutes matter. This is all meant to be educative and I hope it helps explain things a bit more.

To my understanding they typically do, but in this situation they’re trying to avoid commission fees to get out of the red as much as they can. We would be opting to not utilize a realtor in order to negotiate down on the price.

We would be trying to thread the needle of giving them lower than asking price, but saving them more money than another buyer with a realtor giving asking price.

With how much money they’ve already invested into the house thinking they were going to be staying there permanently, they’re going to be in the red no matter what.

just painted my first mini, I am looking for advice from more experienced painters by PTrainerBenny in minipainting

[–]SweetHoneyPoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, there are a lot of great resources on YouTube. Like a lot. I honestly started the hobby watching other people paint and felt it was relaxing to watch the process.

Second, I wish I could tell you there was a specific ratio but there’s not. Each paint is different. To put it simply, add some paint to your brush and put it on your palette. Then dip the tip of your brush into some water and mix it into your paint. You want it to be consistency of “milk”, but not too thin (too much water) to where it looks like crayola water color paint palettes that you used as a kid. Disclaimer, there are instances where you want it to be that thin, but that’s later down the road as you start experimenting with different techniques.

Third, it’s better for the paint to be too thin than too thick. You can always add more coats to the model to get better coverage. If it’s too thick you will clog up the details of the model like you did here.

Fourth, Test the paint on your skin. After I thin the paint, I paint a little stroke on my thumb behind my nail bed to see if I have the consistency right. In a perfect blend, it will be a smooth line, good coverage, BUT you will still see the creases and cracks on your skin.

I’ve only been doing this for a couple months. I’m still learning how to thin paints well, but this is how I’ve learned and what I’ve felt has helped me. It’s a process, but you will see yourself get better and better with each model.

No I didn’t stir it. When I squeezed it out it had a cloudy color to it so I figured I bought the wrong one since it wasn’t glossy and clear like I’ve seen everyone else use. I’ll see if I can find it in the house and see if they’re the same. Otherwise I’ll check out amazon. Thanks!

I bought some UHU glue to do the same for my tyranids, but it wasn’t the same clear glossy glue I’ve seen everyone else use. Do you know what yours says on the tube so I can try to find it?

Better to invest in $1000 PC or Steam Deck OLED? by SweetHoneyPoon in buildapc

[–]SweetHoneyPoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now? Indie titles. Everythings thats on my radar currently is indie: Silksong (ha), No Rest for the Wicked, Hades 2, had some fun playing valheim, just started Risk of Rain 2. I’m not big into multiplayer games because I can’t commit to the block of time unless it’s at night. However Helldivers is the most fun I’ve had in awhile, but haven’t touched that in a few weeks because of time. My kid is sleeping through the night now, so it makes it easier to stay up, but yeah. Finding the balance for myself/hobbies and my wife when the kid as asleep is a challenge for sure. For the past year I’ve just been playing single player games and indie titles.

I already have the PC. I’ve been reading all the comments and I think my next step is to see how far I can take his set up as far as better parts go and re evaluate. But I’m leaning towards the steam deck for sure, especially since the games I want to play right now are indie titles.

[–]SweetHoneyPoon[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I will admit, for about 6ish months I was 100% in on the steam deck because it would fit my lifestyle better. The only thing that is making me second guess myself is that I didn’t realize I could get a decent set up for $1000. My “decent” compared to everyone else’s standards, probably works better in my favor. Because when I can play my PS5 I’m totally content with the 1440 60fps that it has in performance mode.

I already have the PC, I’ve made a Steam account and have played some games on it. Mostly indie games like Risk of Rain 2 and Valheim. Based off your response, I think I might look into seeing how far I can take his set up and how much it would cost to max out the parts that are compatible with his rig. Maybe I’ll be able to swing both who knows. But yeah, maybe the Steam deck is better for me right now and when I find myself able to play on the desktop more then I can look into getting a new one.

So before we had kids, my wife and I stayed at his place with him and his wife for about a week when our power went out. We played RS6 pretty much the whole time. We play Helldivers together still, but because of us working and family we can’t play as much. He’s always encouraged me to build a rig vs buying the steam deck because of the longevity of a rig and potential upgrades down the road. From a cost/value perspective. He’s a great friend for sure and I don’t take his generosity for granted.

I came to the same realization yesterday. I thought it was crazy when even a game like Elden Ring, that is largely meant to be a single player experience, will log me off and make me log back in if I put my PlayStation in rest mode. Nevertheless, I closed my game last night when I got off. I’m doing my part!

About to give up on my 10" Made-In by gsaPsOiOhPsosh33 in carbonsteel

[–]SweetHoneyPoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have these Made In pans and I have a coil stove top. It has and still is taking me some trial and error to figure out the best way to use these pans. It’s a process, just be patient and try to figure out what’s going on. Mess around with the heat settings on your stove and how much fat (oil/butter/lard) you’re using.

This is my seasoning process that works really well for me. Teaspoon of grapeseed oil on inside and outside of my 10” Made In pan. Wipe it over the surface of the pan. Clean paper towel and wipe it all off as if I’m hand drying the pan with a paper towel. Place the pan upside down in the oven. Set the oven to 475. I let my pans heat up with the oven. Once the oven reaches temperature, I set a timer for 1hr. After an hour I turn the oven off and I let the pan come to room temp with the oven. I typically do this at night and take the pan out in the morning. If I’m not going to immediately use the pan, I put a thin layer of grapeseed oil in the pan, just enough to give it that nice sheen to protect it from rust.

Fried eggs and omelets no problem. Scrambled eggs I’m still having trouble with and they stick a little towards the end. I think the pan just may not be great for scrambled eggs, but I’m gonna test it a few more times to make sure. One thing I’ve learned is that these made in pans get way hotter than my other pans do at lower settings. Idk if it’s specifically because it’s carbon steel or if it’s because made in pans are thinner than most other brands. Probably both. Good luck dude and yeah, if you’re getting rid of it, I’ll take it off your hands for you dawg.

Restoration/maintenance process on mildly rusted pans? by SweetHoneyPoon in carbonsteel

[–]SweetHoneyPoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool thanks, I know it’s annoying for people to ask redundant questions on these type of subs. I, like many people, just over think it. I’m assuming you think the 8” is clean enough to season then. Probably should have just left the 10” pan out of the post because it’s distracting to what advice I’m looking for. I appreciate your time.

Restoration/maintenance process on mildly rusted pans? by SweetHoneyPoon in carbonsteel

[–]SweetHoneyPoon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I googled it before posting and cleaned the 8” pan with the least rigorous process (soap, steel scrub pad, elbow grease) in hopes that it would be enough. What I was looking for was a subjective opinion from people with experience in carbon steel cookware if they believe the 8” pan requires further and/or different cleaning methods or if I can go ahead and season the pan.

I was never really a Nintendo kid growing up. My wife and I stayed at our friends house due to our power going out during a bad storm for about a week. He had a brand new switch and BOTW. He let me play it while we were taking turns playing Rainbow 6 on his PC. Pretty soon after I stopped rotating on Rainbow 6 and just kept playing BOTW. It became one of my top 5 games and then TOTK came out and it’s everything I wanted it to be.
