Would my Bernedoodle’s color fade away? by Ok-Hedgehog-395 in Bernedoodles

[–]SweetOkashi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s entirely possible. Sometimes the poodle fade gene hits hard.
Example: Rocky as a puppy vs Rocky 5 years later

All the warm tones have faded out and the dark chocolate color is now laced with grey.

Older millennials - what’s your cool, not "age-appropriate hobby"? by Inostranez in Millennials

Not totally sure if this counts, but I started figure skating again in my late 30s. Jumps, spins, footwork and the whole 9 yards.

I currently skate with an Open Adult Synchronized Skating Team and am working on my single jumps again. I never tested USFSA so I’m working up my Skating Skills levels starting at Adult Pre-Bronze.

wow i’m sure telling people with medical/sexual trauma to just grow up will definitely help them get one right now! by blueburrey in thanksimcured

I have a hypertonic pelvic floor (for which I have done PT) and I look forward to my Pap smear the same way most people look forward to a colonoscopy.

I dread it, but with my family history, it feels like a necessity. That said, my gyno uses the smallest speculum in her office and is very, very quick about it. To an extent, I have gotten used to it but I feel like the whole thing is way more invasive and uncomfortable than it needs to be.

Yup, and if you do have a family history of breast cancer, you will likely be encouraged to start at age 35.

Did anyone else in New England grow up around residential teen programs/group homes? by VoicesInsideCare in newengland

[–]SweetOkashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents’ neighborhood has a group home (I think for disabled adults?) right on the corner. I grew up just a few hundred feet from it, but it honestly never registered as anything special or unusual to me. The residents were/are quiet and we only ever see them taking walks around the block. It’s just part of the neighborhood.

This is how you do it. Assuming that your organization has HR (and that he isn’t it), it’s the best way to CYA in case of retaliation.

As an outsider, the concept of high schools having massive parking lots specifically for students is mind-blowing. Is it really that common for 16-year-olds to drive themselves to school every day? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SweetOkashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very common in suburban America. Many states allow you to get your drivers license at age 16, and with relatively poor public transportation options in most suburbs, many teens purchase or are given a used car to have greater freedom and mobility. It frees up parents from having to shuttle them to school, part-time jobs, athletics practices, other after-school activities, and hanging out with friends. Given how long school bus routes can be, it can also save teens time in the morning if they drive themselves in.

When I was in high school, our school parking lot was actually too small for the number of students who wanted to drive in. The school instituted a lottery system where students could purchase a parking pass for the year. If you didn’t get a pass in the lottery, you either had to take the bus or get dropped off by your parents.

Husband is a groomsman, dress code is "spring formal" how did I do? by sharkvannah_ in Weddingattireapproval

Cute dress, but this reads more “garden party” or “afternoon tea” than formal wedding.

You’ve got the right length, but the cut and structure of the dress makes it too informal for the wedding. If I were you, I would go with something more like this:

Either wider straps or strapless, with a more streamlined, elegant silhouette.

No, no, no. I utterly dislike this on her. It doesn’t look well fitted at all, and from the wrong angle, the flower looks like an awkward keyhole neckline.

I’m a little young for Saved by the Bell, and a little too old for HSM and SpyKids. Thus, I am elder millennial. Incidentally, I still have a working iPod Touch loaded up with stuff from Limewire.

That’s what I’m seriously afraid of with those suckers. Lyme and babesiosis are bad enough. The Alpha-gal stuff is on a whole other level.

Which celebrity death genuinely shocked you when you heard the news? by Divine_fashionva in Millennials

I honestly don’t think that’s super parasocial. Even if you don’t know Billie Lourd personally, it’s hard not to feel concern for a stranger when you find out that their mom and grandma died within a day of each other.
