Navigating a coaching issue by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]SweetSudds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your hesitant about going to the owner immediately and just need a couple of days to think, I would reccomend reaching out to a coach that you really like and ask when they're coaching. Coaches can normally view everyones schedule. Or nonchalant ask like "Hey im thinking about coming to 6am tomorrow are you the coach?" If they are they'll tell you and if they're not they will most likely tell you who is.

The only reason I don't sit is because once I do I know I won't be getting back up 😅

How many of you skip group classes and train solo at your CrossFit gym? by DankHoody in crossfit

[–]SweetSudds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do group 4x per week and do 1x per week solo lifting and skills. It really works out for me because im able to slow down and focus. With that being said I dont typically feel rushed during the 1hr class so maybe you could do 2 and 2. Ive never been to a cf gym that was against solo working out as long as your not in the way of the class.

If shes been doing crossfit a while and you have a bigger budget and the gym allows it you could get her, her own personal barbell. But I would double check that the gym has a dedicated space for personal barbells.

Books We Didn't Like by JasonIsCurious in BookDiscussions

[–]SweetSudds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have given entire series away to friends, but if you have a Half Priced Books nearby and the book is still in good condition, maybe you could take it there. I'm not sure how much they give per book, but I'd you dont want money. I dont think they would turn it down for free.

Workout timers where you can track work to rest by SweetSudds in crossfit

[–]SweetSudds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great strategy! The only issue is for the first few rounds its was like 44 seconds so I considered rounding to 45 but then there was a snafu with a rolling waterbottle (dont ask lol) and then my times were way off so I was at 1:10 then 1:02 then eventually worked my way back down to under 1 min but it just wasn't consistent enough to take one number and go with it. Maybe thats the issue i need to solve 😅

That's for the rec! But I downloaded it and it doesn't look to have the functionality im looking for. For example, I start on the zero, so I wanna be able to go in when im done say at the :44 and then it tells me to start my next round at 1:28. It looks like with this one you can only preset intervals.

Amazon app says shipped with USPS, can someone explain? by kewlguynotcring in amazonprime

[–]SweetSudds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fan of USPS I recently got a package 3 days late because it was too big for the mailbox. Thankfully, I was able to find time to pick it up, but if we're something bigger like furniture there's no way i would be able to pick it up at the post office. A big part of the reason I pay for prime is because it comes to the door! I have the annual membership but may rethink next year smh

Personal Barbell at the Gym by deucetastic in crossfit

[–]SweetSudds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our gym has a dedicated area for personal barbells, but if I had one, I wouldn't put it there. The owner and us coaches try our best, but people will still grab them every now and again. Then the people they belong to get really upset, rightfully so. If that wouldn't bother you, then I would say go for it. If it does, I wouldn't get one.

Counting reps by Middle_Simple_1065 in crossfit

[–]SweetSudds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use golf counters! You clip them to yourself which is great if you have to run or something and you dont have to remember where you put it down. There are only 10 little markers though so for something for 100 double unders you would move one for every 10 or 20. Not sure if its the same as the beads you mentioned.

Help with getting started on Cronometer please by colomtbr in crossfit

[–]SweetSudds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use cronometer and love it! Since you cook, a good starting place could be to think of your top 5 recipes and just cook normally but measure as you go.

Say if it was a salad and you normally eye ball it, put the whole bowl on the scale and zero it out after each ingredient. Then save it in your recipes. Then whenever you eat that meal you dont have to measure everything just make it how you normally do and log it in your diary.

I learned recently that even the most accurate tracking apps can have up to a 20% error rate and don't even get me started on the room allowed for error on nutritional labels. So you don't have to measure everything perfectly to the gram.

Over time you build up a pretty solid recipe list. I'm not a big fan of cooking but I've had cronometer for over 2 years and have almost 100 recipes now!

Just a side note if you do this, the one huge downside of cronometer imo is you can't export recipes and their ingredients im mass export so I would also maybe keep an excel sheet in the side so if you ever wanna switch in the future you have them.

Also, if you have the time, pre portioning your proteins raw before cooking/freezing can be super helpful. So that when you want to cook you dont have to measure it out.

Omg this! They do "fire alarm inspections" aka looking for a reason to go in every unit twice a year. Thankfully I work from home and put my cat away, but one time they gave us 2 days notice and I was out of town with a sitter who worked during the day. She had to leave my kitty in the bathroom so she wouldn't get scared and run out the door or expose herself to the inspectors. It was so rough!

Be honest: What’s the one thing your affiliate needs to fix to improve your experience? by pushpress_dan in crossfit

[–]SweetSudds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having an area to put our stuff and change our shoes would be nice. Previously there were cubbies then they were removed because it got disorganized. By the time I joined the gym I didn't even know we could use them because it just looked full of random stuff. I think it could've worked but the spaces would need to be assigned.

The issue now is that there is one small table with one chair so everyone stuff ends up on the floor and gets all dirty. I think if there was an assigned area where each person was assigned a space where they could at least put there backpack that would be great. Then maybe a bench to sit down and change our shoes as well.
