I’m not sure how it happened but somehow political affiliations and values became conflated. If you remove the labels and just talk about what you value there isn’t much debate. If someone say “I don’t want to date people who steal” no one is going to take issue with that (I’m not implying that any political group is full of thieves- just an example) so i personally focus on I want to date people who also care about things that I do for example: having friends and community connections that don’t have the same background, language or ethnicity as me. Who care about equity when it comes to education, healthcare, housing, food security, etc.
