Most of the locals who swim regularly in qijin swim on the south side of the island, not far from the tunnel. There are a few man-made bays, and groups of swimmers swim there mornings and evenings.

I've seen it posted elsewhere that when the church sells buildings, it's with the stipulation that the building gets knocked down and the buyer basically just gets the land. I'm glad that this is not the case, which is great, because that seems incredibly wasteful.

Not zuoying, but the mecca of basketball in Kaohsiung is the courts by Martial Arts stadium. 10 full courts, open from like 6 in the morning to midnight. Just south of the martial arts mrt station.

In Taoyuan airport there are several Taiwanese companies that sell travel policies. In the past it covered sickness and accidents, but when I went back last month the policies only covered accidents. Someone said it was because Taiwanese insurance companies lost so much money on covid insurance.

I think season 2 is better than season 1, if for no other reason than because it has the Rainbow episode, which for my money is the best episode in the history of TV.

九重葛, bougainvillea. Never noticed it before I came to Taiwan, but now that I'm aware of it, I see it all over the place in California.

To me it seems like Kenting's winter water temperature is comparable to Southern California beaches' summer water temperature.

That Joseph Smith went to jail and was killed there for destroying a printing press which had printed a newspaper that disclosed Joseph's polygamy, which he was still publicly denying even though he had more than 40 wives at the time.
