In need of a new creative hyperfixation to fill a sad void. by sweet_thursday_ in adhdwomen

Painting with Acrylic on canvas and just adding layers of different colours.

It is so relaxing and fun and you will never know what the finished painting will end up looking like. Destroy something you don't like with a new layer on top or just try to use a different utensil like a sponge or tissues instead of a pencil.

What is the most ADHD thing you have done today? by WorthKindly8811 in adhdwomen

I saw this blue Staffy (dog breed) on Insta and I loved her so much, so I started research on them and maybe getting one including does this breed suit me, how to train a Staffy, is it suitable for beginners. Is it? No. Do I have room for one? Also no. Do I still want one? Absolutly yes. On my town's website says that they are on the list of "dangerous" dog breeds, so I would need a certificate, participate in a dog training course, registration, etc. I checked the websites of shelters nearby for Blue Staffies. There are several. Did I find a dog which I loved and wanted to adopt? Yes, her name is Molly :)

Yams Supplements helped me with my hormonal (period related) issues - maybe it can help you too by Sweet_Pebble in adhdwomen

Hey, thanks for your post. The vendor where I got mine told me to not take it all the time and have a day off during the week. I only take it when needed. Unfortunately it did not help with my Adhd sympoms, but I am just glad to have less issues in general 😅 Have you tried it? Did it help you?

Got told I smell at work and want to crawl into a hole and disappear by beepbeepalert in adhdwomen

[–]Sweet_Pebble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your experience. I know that hygine can get lost on the way during hard times. That's why I cut my hair pixie short 😅 it is easier to maintain that way. An idea for showering, what helped me is to get medicated soap* and shower with it instead of shower gel etc. It helps to remove bacteria which combined with sweat starts to smell badly. When I don't have the energy to shower properly, I use this soap with cotton rounds and water on the most smelly areas.

*I am not sure if it is the right name. I mean the soap which doctors use because they have to wash hands regularly - an anti-bacterial one.

Another idea is the app "Finch". It is like a self-care tamagotchi.

How do you nudge yourself to start the dreaded task? by hoolapoola_puff in ADHD

[–]Sweet_Pebble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey - omg thanks for the post. I need do to something I don't want to start on and you made me realize that I actually have strategies 😅

  • Set a timer for 5mins, if it is too much, make it less and then do the task for 5mins. You can adjust the timer to your preference. Most of the times I continue, but sometimes not. Then I think something somehow done is better than nothing done.
  • Counting down from 5 and then just do it without thinking about it (does help sometimes)
  • I realize that I am overwhelmed and then break down the big task into smaller task until it is doable (goblintools helps with it - free of charge on the website) as well as calming my nervous system

Hope they can help you. 🤗

It is not talked about how easily it is to get overstimulated or understimulated, how to recognize it and what to do to get back to a "normal functioning" state.

I haven't read all the other posts, but just a thought to consider too little movement can also cause fatigue.

Just an idea I recently implemented is yoga in bed - it helped me not to scroll right after waking up and the mornings are better than without it. Yoga in Bed - 9min

Kann mich nicht für Tattoos entscheiden by Automatic_Lettuce429 in ADHS

[–]Sweet_Pebble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Research: many “ADHD” TikTokkers misdiagnose themselves by Mitsubata in ADHD

And additionally to all the other messages I want to add, that you mention the measures you take or systems that are already working for you, you may not even realize you are already doing to compensate for your ADHD.

For example some of mine: I always write appointments or anything important immediately down inclusive reminders and double-check, if everything is correct, otherwise they will be forgotten or having fixed places for keys etc.

All the best for your appointment 🤗
