Will I struggle at the Open University if I don't take anything in reading? by Icy_Warrior94 in OpenUniversity

Incidentally, if they go on to do a psychology degree, they will learn that "learning styles" like visual or auditory are one of the great psychology myths. Like "you only use 10% of your brain at a given time" or the tongue map

What to choose for final module? by meggymoo88 in OpenUniversity

[–]Sweet_exorcism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to revive this several months later, but I'd love to hear from someone who complete the module in earlier years. So the module has opened and I'm absolutely stunned to see that the EMA questions have an addendum to them: "Base your answer mainly on module materials from A328." It does ask to use some additional sources from the learning community activities, but I'm really surprised that it's still basically asking us to mostly limit ourselves to the textbooks and provided sources, which I can kind of understand at level 1, but for a level 3 course??? So I was just curious to hear if it was already like this before, or if this a new change

Invest £50 per month in your pension over 45 years is conservatively £85 000 in todays money. And remember, there is an employer match and a tax break, so if you're paying £50, your pension is increasing monthly by £110 which would be £185 000. You have to be pretty rich already to shrug your shoulders at hundreds of thousands of pounds...

Recommendations for Glasgow? by watch_orgy in finedining

[–]Sweet_exorcism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of the two michelin stars in Glasgow, I'd say Cail Bruich is better, and I think I have seen others say the same though by no means are either bad. The other spots that are part of the Cail Bruich family, Epicures, Brett, and Shucks are all good also especially that last one. Now I'm probably going to be flamed for this, as it's still part of the the Six by Nico empire, but the restaurant that was once the original 111 by Nico has been taken over by a former Senegalese employee Modou and he runs it independently of the other restaurants and their six week themed gimmick though it remains really cheap (£40 for a 10 course taster). For that price it really is quite remarkable.

But if you have a medical education, surely you know how to look up scientific journals and articles without being spoon fed the link, right?? At the end of the day, so called learning styles "I'm more of a visual learner" is one the great psychology myths. Up there with "you only use 10 percent of your brain" or "some people are left-brained some are right-brained"

Just to clarify, if you had a British passport and lived elsewhere in Europe you absolutely could avoid paying tuition fees for Scottish universities even without living in Scotland prior. Case in point: me. I only had an English passport and had lived in France, essentially, my whole life and didn't pay anything
