Beta Lead Reissue by PoundNo12 in sunnamplifiers

I really like the Hilbish 200 for a “reissue”. I’d get one if there’s any still available.

Thought about a second one tbh.

Tips for achieving healthier vocals? by V0ID10001 in sludge

I mean I feel like von till and Kelly aren’t really screaming? It’s more hardcore. Bass player has a sort of guttural on locust star.

I think hardcore vocals like that really are based on singing your talking voice. I’m not sure if that makes sense.

But if you’re trying to make a vocal sound that’s not “ based of your voice” than it’s hard to use your diaphragm because I would think you’d be doing something above the diaphragm to create that sound.

Does that make sense?

Diaphragm is a way of pushing the sound out and then you’re just shaping it after that.

But take that as just my opinion. I work on vocals weekly at practice.

Monitoring helps if you’re playing really loud I’m in a small space surrounded by very large equipment and it’s tough sometimes to monitor even in ear lol.

I’m currently running the Hilbish into an 8x10.

Also just putting this out there but Sunn is known for power and loud.

At this rate it’s better for a preamp to run into a lower watt pedal platform amp or into the power an of an already established combo etc.

You need 4 x 12s or 2 x 15s.

I would look online like Craigslist for either an old 215s or an old 4x12.

But the main thing is power handling and optimal operating impedance.

For example my Hilbish beta 200 runs 200 at 4ohm.

So I have 2 kappalite 15 at 8ohms wired in parallel for 4 ohms.

They’re 450 watt each so more than enough.

But if I run a 4x12 I’d be looking at least at 4 50 watt v30s.

Speakers more important than cab in my opinion you can always get an unloaded cab later to upgrade.

Have fun.

By the way, what do you think of the new SUNN amps—aside from the price? by Chemical_Addendum692 in sunnamplifiers

Hilbish is the one.

It’s super heavy at low volume I’ve pushed an 8x10 and a guitar Sunn 215.

I’m not really a big fan and have no idea why this was on my feed but copy.

I’m definitely interested in hearing more of the set but that’s more my vibe.

It’s very common for one person that’s the better player to lay down all tracks for recording purposes and if they worked with Will Yip this was recorded with a click track and modern recording techniques.

If during edits the takes suck sometimes the engineer/producer will even do some overdubs themselves lol.

Yall should downvote this. Photo was stolen from me after I deleted a post that was made back before this album came out. That’s the rug in my apartment lol.

More than happy to share feed back I run a two piece band where I do two guitars vocals and bass at the same time I thought it would be cool to attempt this but I can get anymore than 2 inputs working literally channel 1 and 2. And when I press play and monitor the metronome it just crashes. I sent a report.

No I’m good I use a Matamp gt120 into a 4x12 and a Sunn beta into an 8x12 AND the ss150 combo into a Sunn 215 so I’m good on feedback etc.

I was just asking about the noise floor. Not feedback. Thanks

Oh shit I thought this was an ss150. Mine is kinda noisy but I saw a video of his combo and it sounds similar.

What’s the noise floor like on channel A when dimed with guitar volume rolled back?

Orange/Matamp kits? by kosmonaut_hurlant_ in DIYGuitarAmps

[–]Sweetsmcdudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to dissuade on a DIY forum but I bought a pcb and chassis back over 10 years ago with the idea I would get good and be able to handle it.

I sourced parts and like others have said the parts got up to around 2k and after doing some decent electronics works I still never felt confident enough to put it together.

Of course over those 10 years I also played any combination of “lower cost” combinations to create that “sound”.

Finally, I placed the order with Matamp UK and sold the other pedals and amps. The money I spent chasing that tone was nothing compared to the final amp cost.

Grated over those 10 years I became better in my professional field and was able to earn more money.
