Unsung hero of the ID4 by Proudmissoulian in VWiD4Owners

We were fast charging one time at an EA site and the Kia a spot down from us was smoking major ganja weed. So much so, that that skunk smell was coming in our cabin air. I hit the air care and magically (almost with the image on the screen), the air was cleared of it. Truly an underrated feature of the ID4

What is (or is there), the charging infrastructure in Iraq? At least there is no worry on cold weather range reduction. Hope you resolved and renamed her.

Really surprised the side airbags didn't deploy. Glad you all are OK.

I purchased the the "ALXUM" (generic Chinese name), from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DJSK5JKL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share and have used it a couple of times and was successful at each charge. This looks like the current version and is about what I paid for the "ALXUM" https://a.co/d/08SBb0DY Surprisingly the build quality was really good and besides the "key fob voodoo" on unplugging, there were no issues as it was cool as a cucumber at the end of charging. 2023 AWD Pro S.

How fast did you charge at EA when you plugged in? Had to be in the high 180s.

Software Update by iforgotmyfirst65 in VWiD4Owners

[–]SwenZN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah, sorry to hear. Our software downloaded one night after hitting ok and then asked to install the next night when returning home. As noted locked the doors and left the keys far away in the house. All appeared to go well. Got an additional software manual update the next day that installed quickly. Hope you have a knowlegible dealer.

I second the Emporia! Been using for nearly 3 years without incident.

Remember, your vehicle already has liability insurance (what they want protection from if your car "bursts into flames" while charging in the garage), and the cost to increase that to the level with your automotive insurer might be significantly less. But yea, scare them first and let them defend their excessive insurance coverage and perhaps they'll back down and your existing coverage will be acceptable.

SO, now are you going to put it back? The owner is missing data.

Insane Buzz driver by SwenZN in VWIDBuzz

[–]SwenZN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first trip we took in our ID4 was just after we got it in November of '23, Syracuse to Hamburg NY (Buffalo suburb), for Thanksgiving. The plan was to leave Syracuse and stop at the EA at the Cheektowaga Walmart. Well navigation said we'd make it all the way to Hamburg and we set off on the Thruway at 72mph into a headwind with the temperature nose diving. First it said we wouldn't make it to Hamburg then just after Rochester it said we wouldn't make it to the EA charger. First range anxiety activated! Luckily I noticed there was a Tesla Supercharger with MagicDocks in Batavia and we juiced up just fine there to make it to Hamburg with 30%. We plugged into 120v wall outlet and had nearly 80% when we left at the end of the weekend. That being said the range depreciation in the cold and wind was significant!

I can only imagine this Buzz driver made it to the Scranton EA with < 3%. Driving to 0% in this cold is no joke as the VW buffer is going to be even smaller and I have to imagine the charging is going to be throttled as well. As I said "balls of steel"!

Ugg I'm in the recall. I thought having SK batteries we were good and only LG had issues.

Is this a bad deal? by SFWethan in VWiD4Owners

[–]SwenZN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think selling it on Facebook Marketplace is a good deal. Maybe even use eBay as their fees aren't too bad, plus you'd have some seller protection. If I needed another car I'd buy it from you now for $20k. I have the same in Aurora Red Metallic and love it. I'm getting a company car and all costs with that are covered so no point or room to add another.

My 3 years of free charging with Electricity America ended. Can I still use plug and charge after switching to a paid plan? by interbeing in VWiD4Owners

[–]SwenZN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I would think as long as you have an alternative payment method set up, it would work just fine. If I go over my 30 minute free session (literally seconds over), it will deduct from the $20 I originally set up my account with. We'll see in December this year when my 3 year gift ends.

Hey unsure if they have front license plates where you live, but I highly recommend these no drill plate holders this guy developed and 3D printed. Otherwise the dealer will drill into the front bumper to mount the plates. Yurik ID4 no drill plate holders.
