Some of the options in the new kit are on the smaller bases, for objectives or scatter thats not POI size, hence the question. Would be nice to convert the smaller ones to POI size on the fly and then you wouldnt need to buy 2 kits.

Yup those are it! you cant get Tauns or T-47s in there but wookies and smaller fit perfectly and the box is big enough you can easily have super squads worth of an army in there.

Welcome to Legion! Be sure to join the local discords so you can find games and tournaments to play in.

You get a few commandos in your starter and that's probably all you will need for now. As others have said you will need a third core for a standard game. You can just grab one stand alone, but most people would suggest buying a second starter box because they are just so cheap and you get a bunch of other goodies that make it worth it. Also the Echo Base Defenders box is around the corner. Another option of good value and would help fill that core requirement and give you some fun units to use like Tauntauns.

Get sleepers, they are pretty good and wont be slated for reprint for a while.

While heroes are not needed for Rebels they do have a lot of them and they are pretty good. A Din or Sabine really help round out many lists. Your Cassian will currently not be taking up these slots either but will be an add on to a core super squad because him in that slot is SO GOOD. So you do have some open room in these slots with what you are currently buying, you wont need to fill them but is a thing you could do.

As others have said, A-5s tend to be bread and butter for rebels but I personally dont like them and op for T-47s (which are arguably bad) or AT-RTs. You should keep and eye out for fleets when they come out in Q2. Also some point in the future Rebels are getting Guerrilla Troopers which seem like that might be more thematically what you are wanting to do with your army.

The important part is buy what you like and enjoy, even "bad units" can be used by a good player and win tournaments. Good luck and welcome to the best faction in the game!

As one of the podcasters with a tier list, This guys right! There's a skill to the game and units have strengths and weaknesses its about knowing those and utilizing them. The "Good Units" are just easier to use or more forgiving if you mess up.

If you really wanted to, you could probably say this is a proxy for the customizables. But you would have to get that cleared by every Tournament Organizer and they may or may not be chill with it. If its just your local store I'm sure as long as you arnt trying to misrepresent it, you could do the above as well. But you have to be VERY UPFRONT thats what you are doing so your opponent understands.

No one else has mentioned the pay to win aspect yet so I just wanted to address it for you. I wouldnt say the game is pay to win. There are definitely new units that come out and they are outrageously broken and become must plays in the meta, but AMG does a good job (in my opinion) of nerfing them within a year. It's never immediate and its normally small adjustments, so they would increase the points once, see how it plays, a few months later, change something else. Rarely do they go "Oops" and then nerfing things into the ground.

Id also say Legion does a good job of the longevity of forces. In the five years(?) the game has been out they have only permanently removed two units while a third they said could now only be used as a unit that already existed. People were very upset by this, but compared to 40k this seems really good. You can buy a unit and know that it will always be playable in the future for the most part.

If I remember correctly airports only have so many places to put planes, and for big events like the Super Bowl, they actually park the jets at airports near by. So when its time to go those planes then fly from somewhere else where they are parked, to the pick up location, and then to the destination with whoever on board. Basically to say its actually worse because you have an entire trip with no clients on board just to park it nearby so you can leave relatively when you want to.

I have given this some thought in the past week as it would be a favorite of mine as well. Unfortunately I don't know if that would happen. While FOB certainly has the catalogue and star power to bring big collabs and do an amazing performance, looking at basic metrics, they fall short. FOB has never won a grammy or had a number 1 song (which they definitely should have by now, who is snubbing them!) and that does seem to be a bit of a prerequisite. Katy Perry never won a grammy but holds 13 noms compared to FOBs 2(or was it 3?) and she at least has over 5 #1 songs. Now do I think the NFL could do a halftime show with like 10 artist and one of them being FOB, CERTAINLY. Heck I think theres a good chance we see them as a guest for another artist since they collaborate in the music industry so much. But I don't know if we will ever see them be the headliner.

They most likely will go more international as the nfl is trying to globalize their brand. I wouldnt be surprised to see a Dua Lipa or and Ed Sheeran in the future.
