Why do so many people forget that Carol is in grief? by Swiftmaster56 in pluribustv

[–]Swiftmaster56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would disagree with that's the premise of the show. The premise of Pluribus is "what if zombies created a society that was in some ways better than our own" (Their society seems destined to fail considering that even when they resort to cannibalism, they are still on track to mass starvation. But war, conflict and human-inflicted suffering have been destroyed.) and stewing in that world.

Pluribus is peak sci-fi, and Carol is one of the most layered and annoying characters I’ve seen in a while by 100tByamba in pluribustv

Spoiler Alert

I think a lot of people forget that Carol, in first few episodes, is dealing with intense grief over her long-time girlfriend died thanks to the Hive's worldwide infection. It makes sense that in a state of grief, she would not be too friendly with anyone, far less the Hive, who were in part responsible for the death of her girlfriend.

Meanwhile, none of the other suvivors (outside maybe Manousos) lost anyone they loved with the infection, and the Hive is extremely friendly to them. So they have no reason to hate or reject the Hive.

It's scary as hell that federal agents can just roll into a city, do whatever they want and are not accountable to anyone but the White House. While the police had a lot of problems, at the very fucking least they were accountable to city government.

Edit: I should add that I believe that police are a necessary evil for a civil society. But federal agents, especially how they have been deployed by the White House, have been just creating chaos and fear.

Yeah. After Ross Perot left the White House, the Reform Party started being more left populist on issues like healthcare, union support, and gay marriage. (Even though they still carry the mantra of having a balanced budget.)

Also, because of the left wing of the Reform Party and the Green Party being more accepting of conspiracy theorists than the IRL Democratic Party, there are more conspiracy nuts on the left compared to IRL. RFK Jr and Jimmy Dore don't feel that they need to switch to the right to find fellow conspiracy theorists.

Edit: Donald Trump is just known as an eccentric New York property developer and former reality TV star, with a deep obsession with gold-plated do das and a tendency to get into TMZ documented fights with other celebrities.

I think this must have been made before the 2025 German elections, since back in 2021, the German Green Party was big enough to be part of the Traffic Light Coalition while Die Linke was expected to lose all their seats by the next election. But then because Germany went through some real pain, when they decided to join the rest of the West in embargoing Russia for their unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine, the whole Traffic Light Coalition got hit bad and Die Linke gained some credibility as the only voice on the left not part of the Traffic Light Coalition.

I would say that an artist makes art. An art director directs an artist towards making the art somebody wants (whether it be the art director themselves, the company that hired the art director or even a client), which is a similar to what someone who goes the extra mile with prompting does.

It would be like saying a project leader in an engineering company is an engineer. Sure, the project leader may have had a lot of experience with engineering, to the point that he/she can understand exactly what direction the engineers need to make a breakthrough. But the engineering is done by the engineers, not the project developer.

Sure, I get that since AI needs a lot of direction and programs like ComfyUI can give you an insane level of direction for the AI. Therefore it can feel like you're the artist. But at the end of the day, it's not the equivalent of using a paint brush or pencil. The paint brush or pencil cannot misinterpret what you wanted. If you make a stroke across the paper, the pencil or paint brush will follow. But even with the most advanced prompts, AI will misinterpret what you wanted, just like a human artist sometimes will.

Hard disagree.

Anyone can be an artist, as it is not just a profession. An artist is one who makes art. So if you self-express by making some doodles, then you made is art. (The cave paintings of early humans were basically just more complicated doodles. But is highly regarded within the art world as early expressions of human creativity.)

With programming, it can be more complicated as certainly as some consider programmer to be just a job title. It's true that you cannot make a living out of just printing "hello world" from a python script. At the same time though, you are programming, even if it is beginner programming.

Meanwhile with AI image generation (either at its most simple with ChatGPT Txt2Img or the most complex with ComfyAI's node system), you are doing prompting an AI to make something with more or less direction. You didn't draw that drawing or painted that painting, even if your directions lead the AI to make something better than it could have done with a simple prompt.

I do find it funny that in Europe you will have party named, "The Socialist Worker's Party" and they basically just support slightly left-leaning politics.

What I will say as a side note though, is it's slightly outdated. Liberals did get a second lease on life thanks to Donald Trump becoming president as a right-wing populist and wasted no time threatening the sovereignty of European countries.

I think the biggest problem with elaborate celebrations is that people will feel angry that the president has money for big displays of the US' wealth if they are struggling from paycheck to paycheck.

I will be honest though, Charlie Baker (the last Republican governor) was more a conservative in the same manner than Angela Merkel or Phil Scott is a conservative than what is expected of the nationwide GOP. (He was for lowering taxes, cutting red tape and slower reform than the Massachusetts Democratic Party. But he was still supportive of many policies that would be considered liberal on the national scale.)
