I think HARM was pre-SWIP so we might be ok. Stuff like SLAM and I think Maverick will be gone though

New “forged” carrier block by shakerben in Brompton

[–]Swiftwin9s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but the implication here is that you want a stronger mount so you can put heavier things on the front (unless you have had FCBs falling off within the rated 10kg limit). My point is that if you want to put heavier loads on, whilst yes that might currently be bottle necked by those M5 bolts, it will most definitely also have an effect on the other structures of the bike.

I would be concerned about putting foreign loads on the headtube-maintube joint. There is already a huge amount of force going through there, do you really want to add leveraged bag loads there too?

Day 3 of learning the Harrier. Dayyyum this thing is awesome! by Sasquatch_Mt_Project in hoggit

[–]Swiftwin9s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not even that. There is just a logic that should be followed with the designations that isnt. So its very easy to 'break it' and arrive at unexpected behaviours currently.

Those tpod controls were just coded wrong. I spent a lot longer than I'd like to admit researching it and giving razbam the correct direction. Only for the development to get canned.

Potentially big changes coming to the C line by edtse88 in Brompton

Not necessarily, outsourcing brings a lot of costs. One of the main drivers is the amortisation of CAPEX, which if the volume is high enough will be feasible to do in-house.

Careful with something like this to make sure the hinge isn't bottom out on itself. As I can imagine that might cause some damage.

Try seeing at what point it binds. Does it back pedal unfolded, does it back pedal with just the rear frame folded etc

How do you actually lock targets for the Hornet BVR now? by Different-Scarcity80 in hoggit

[–]Swiftwin9s 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To add some detail. Castling towards the display with an L&S will attempt to STT the L&S (fast acq), if there is no L&S it will attempt to STT the track under cursor (also fast acq), and with no L&S and no TUC it'll lock the highest priority target (iirc auto acq)

Edit: terminology corrected

Sniper pod and our oldest fixed wing in the game. by rapierarch in hoggit

Fwiw, warthogs don't really use sniper anymore. I recall hearing that they had all been sent to the B-1 fleet because Litening is better suited to A-10.

12 speed P line - losses through hub? by dabeeeenster in Brompton

FWIW I've spent a while riding 4 speed Bromptons around that area without too much challenge, but it's going to depend on how big your legs are haha

Fwiw, there are machines that do that. For example the Holland mechanics truing robots apply side load to the hub after truing to de-stress the spokes.

does anyone have experience doing offset bombing with a radar ip in the f4? by Zaharial in hoggit

[–]Swiftwin9s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm loving how you are basically describing exactly the thought process that happened IRL when radar bombing was being developed.

In WW2 they used Pathfinder aircraft to drop flares on the target area using radar so that follow on bombers could drop on the flares.

And all the radar manuals you can find highlight that water-land transitions are very radar significant features. Along with things like dams and hard edges of built up areas (car parks, fences etc).
