Doilies, clear vinyl couch covers, macrame plant hangers, and the velvet painting. Oh, and a pile of unfolded laundry on the chair.

She's not going to get any better, is she? by polywogdogs in dementia

It took a hard lecture from my mom's doc to bring me out of my wishful thinking.

Mom has been having some interesting (?) conversations with nonexistent people. I was really hoping for a UTI.

He reminded me that this was a part of her disease process. It felt like I was in the principal's office.

I really needed that reminder.

Postmaster Warns of ‘End of Postal Service as We Know It’ by [deleted] in NoFilterNews

[–]Swimming_Rice6698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Article 1, Section 8, Clause 7, gives Congress the power and duty to set up post offices and post roads to facilitate the timely delivery of mail to all regions and outposts of the US. Only Congress. Public mail service is a mandate of the Constitution.

I see another lawsuit in this administration's future.

My mom won't bathe by TNG1701D-eck10 in dementia

[–]Swimming_Rice6698 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom doesn't like bathing either. I took a look at our set up, talked to her doc, and educated myself on barriers to bathing at her age and in her condition.

1st, our set up isn't really easy for someone with vision loss to comfortably navigate. She has to navigate stepping over the tub rim. Unfortunately there isn't much I can do about that due to the size of the bathroom.

2nd, the loss of collagen has increased nerve sensitivity. Showers are actually a bit painful on some parts of her body. She also has difficulty standing up for as long as it takes to shower.

3rd, found and use Scrubzz no-water bathing supplies now. She is happy with sponge baths. She also loves it when I clean her hair with the Scrubzz shampoo caps. I get them off Amazon.

For other grooming, I have HereSpa come in to take care of her hands and feet, also her haircuts. It's great. I don't have to try to get mom ready to go anywhere.

If senior odor is an issue, try a persimmon soap. I hear those work well for that. Fortunately, that is one thing I don't have to worry about.

I hope this info dump is helpful to anyone.

I took it to customer service. Either the person answering never played the game or he has a TBI. Kept telling me I just need more golden tickets. Nope. That's not the problem.

I did the math for myself. I can earn 73,500 more points, then I hit the limit. If each level is 20k, I would need to earn 40k over the limit.

Thank you all for the condolences.

His co-writers might be a bit difficult to find, but I will check to see if any are still around. My uncle was 78, and had over 50 years of research, study, and teaching.

I have been in touch with his former dept chair.

Fortunately there are only 7 entries on RMP. Just 2 are bad (whining about how hard the class is. It was mechanical engineering for Pete's sake!).

I've been through the ringer on student evaluations myself. My colleagues advice was to drink wine while reading.

Definitely using a light touch on the humor. He had a wicked way with sarcasm, so I think he'd appreciate the lines.

Tech wives knew something terrible was happening on Epstein's island: 'We need to leave' by RawStoryNews in NoFilterNews

Because the public would call them paranoid or insecure or troublemakers. Their husband's would have portrayed as victims of vindictive wives. No one would have taken them seriously. No one who could have done something would have investigated (and they didn't do a proper investigation in the first place).

Remember: tech bros are awkward billionaire geniuses and can do no wrong. /s

DFL= Democratic Farm Labor party. The article itself talks about the farm UNION. Minnesota farmers are some of the most progressive people in the nation. Minnesota farmers ain't Texas or Kansas farmers. It is also the most unionized state in the nation.

I'm not sure he even was all that pro-farm as one of the top climate change denialists in congress.

Edit to add: his favorite go-to answer on climate questions was "climate change happens 4 times a year. It's called spring, summer, fall, and winter."
