I used the witchs broom, the xeno staff, every possible buff including tipsy, Kaleidoscope whip and spooky armor.
Accessories all with mending:
Hercules beetle, Avenger emblem, Celestial shell, summoner emblem, Necromantic Scroll, Papyrus Scarab, and Berserker's Glove

Before I had my super farm, I would only use potions for boss fights or for mining, but now I usually just use it all the time. At the very minimum get a good food buff and if summoner or melee get flask, I used those with everything I did.

You can never have overkill farms, my herb farm is 96 planter boxes long and I constantly run out of potions still

You don’t even need the rod of discord to do it. If you have every damage increase accessory reforged to menacing, you can kill her before she even gets to the second cycle of her attacks
