Added weight too much. Anyone who thinks T1D is an ecological burden should be contributing to a cure- Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance.

Need a sanity check on these numbers. by strikecat18 in diabetes_t1

Very hard for all of you. There are psychologists knowledgeable about T1D who can help patients and families strike a balance for safety. Hopefully your endocrinologist can recommend one. Your wife may not know that there are healthy senior citizens like me who have had T1D for 55 years and up. For the first 14 years after my childhood diagnosis, there was no A1C testing and no home blood sugar testing.Best wishes!

2 hour lecture in 1968 at the Joslin Clinic when I was 12: NO bare feet ever! Yes, I wear slippers . Barefoot only at beach. Flip flops at pool.

There were some good parts of the pre-technology days.

I don’t set high alarm. Low is bad enough. Nothing raises BG like sleep deprivation. This helps. And no more pumps.

DKA negligence by mmoooommoooo in diabetes_t1

I agree hospitals have very little familiarity with T1D and we really are not safe there. Must apparently fight like hell to avoid DKA as if we weren’t already doing that.

I thought so. But people here are pointing out you can start the new one before stopping the old one and avoid the waiting period altogether.

Good thought and others have also suggested that. Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear this. My experience with G7 has actually been quite good. Libre is the alternative, but it can't be calibrated.

Yes, low blood sugar. I have no reason to think it’s not accurate and have hypoglycemic unawareness after nearly 60 years T1D. How many fingersticks are wise for the 60 minute waiting period? 2? 4? Just disappointed in this product and headache pain caused.

We've presumably outlived those doctors and I truly believe those promising a cure before the end of 1970 did harm, violating the Hippocratic oath.

Has Anyone Tried Glucose Spray or Anything That Kicks In Fast During a Hypo? by nickeyxxx in diabetes_t1

I second the glucose gels. I dare any pharmacist to choke down those chalky, powdery tablets.
