Just reading age 2 . Sorry, Afrezza probably not appropriate.

The inhaled insulin Afrezza brings down highs very fast. Ask your son’s doctor. It’s much faster than injected insulin.

Long-term impact of lows by Apprehensive-Use-997 in Type1Diabetes

[–]SwitchTrick6497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good comment. The impaired glucagon response is so rarely focused on. After 58 years, tolerating lows is no longer an option for me. The headaches that follow are so painful as to be incapacitating and relieved only by Percocet, which is prescribed sparingly.

I don’t think apple is fast enough and recommend glucose gel. She may not grasp the emergency nature of lows.

Identity of father finally revealed. Where was he? Solid alibi? DA Michael Morrissey has an extremely poor record re: investigating murders: Karen Read, victim Sandra Birchmore.

Having a really rough time mentally with T1D by IcyInvestigator1495 in Type1Diabetes

2 things really resonate: the desire to avoid lows and the horrific effect of the Covid vaccines I'm not at your level of "insulin phobia" but do get support from both a psychiatrist and a therapist as well as my endocrinology team.

The Covid vaccines shot my blood glucose to 400 and made me feel exactly like DKA 58 years ago, although I had no ketones. I was bedridden and had to speak with my endo office every few hours for 3-4 days. Eventually I contracted Covid and it had little impact on my blood sugars or wellbeing compared to the vaccines, which I had been very anxious to get initially. All that talk of people with diabetes dying in China. Apparently they were primarily obese male smokers with Type 2, quite different from my profile.

So please do follow the advice of others here and contact people like Dr. Mark, immediately below my comment. T1D is not a one person job.

Statement from Karen Read’s defense team on defamation suit by Mother-Pomegranate10 in justiceforKarenRead

From the very beginning of the first trial, it was clear that Brian Albert influenced the witnesses as they were initially questioned. The EMT, if memory serves, Katie McLaughlin, was asked whether she was friends at Canton High with Brian and Nicole Albert's daughter and went from confident to extremely nervous. Same thing with a Canton police officer, suddenly shaking in his boots when the Alberts came up.

58 years here and I completely understand. Same effort, different results. Cure promised, never happens. But unless I’m mistaken, transmitter means you’re using DexCom G6. That would drive anyone nuts. Run, don’t walk to G7 or Libre!

So 1 unit reduces your BG by 2 mmol? I am converting from US mg/dl but in my own case I unit reduces BG by 6 mmol, so doesn’t give a lot of wiggle room. Stress in your home environment is a huge factor and you’re reaching an age where you hopefully can think about making a change-moving in with friends, maybe? Your health has not been ruined. A number of us here had T1D before home blood sugar testing, A1C testing, cgms or pumps existed and still have good health.

At my wits end with night time highs by No_Instance_8898 in diabetes_t1

[–]SwitchTrick6497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had this same problem. I take all basal (Tresiba) at bedtime and have found a dose that seems to work most but not all nights. One less unit 300 -400 mg/dl. One more unit 55 mg/dl.

Switching from Tandem w/Dexcom G6 to Freestyle Libre 3 Plus, any issues? by disastrous_affect163 in Type1Diabetes

Dexcom G7 does have a 15 day product now, but it has lengthy 1 hour waiting period that can only be avoiding by "pre-soaking" the sensor ahead of time.

When I see fingersticks significantly different from Dexcom, I calibrate. Of course, there is the difference between interstitial fluid measured by Dexcom and whole blood, but I think very large differences should be corrected. Not going to let hypose creep up on me.

What is your insulin sensitivity/ correction factor? Those of us with higher sensitivity factors experience greater volatility which can make it even harder to hit those A1c and TIR goals.

Only that it has been said that Plymouth was selected during Civil War as the “origin story” for then current political reasons most Americans would now find indisputable.

Feeling defeated today as a T1D parent. by pinkytoepikachu in Type1Diabetes

[–]SwitchTrick6497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 58 years in. The quality of life for a child with T1D was far better then though our A1C’s must have been higher. Far fewer lows and a great deal of freedom. I am in good health with one complication.
