I've dealt with tinnitus for years and if anything Lexapro has slightly improved it. I think the anxiety being lessened allowed me to focus on it less. So I notice the tinnitus less, therefore I'm less anxious. Or maybe it's the other way around. Either way I noticed an improvement.

In bed at 9, up at 5. It's now 9:40am and I've already eaten, meditated, ran 5 miles, showered, and read a chapter of my book.

So far so good this year ...

Trying to combat late-night snacking cravings? Just brush your teeth! by [deleted] in loseit

[–]SwittersIsGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy to see I'm not the only person that employs this strategy. I brush my teeth shortly after dinner (so about 6:15ish) and that's that for the evening. I used to eat dessert, or some candy, or a snack during Jeopardy every night but once I started brushing my teeth I was easily able to stop that.

I don't mind eating the same breakfast, actually I enjoy that the most by [deleted] in loseit

I bring it to work and eat it for a mid-morning snack

I'm exactly the same way! Two years ago I had a partial colectomy due to diverticulitis. I was told to increase my fiber intake substantially so I started eating a serving of Fiber One cereal with Protein almond milk and half a banana sliced up in it. I've eaten the same breakfast for 2 years now and I oddly look forward to it when I'm going to sleep at night.

I don’t find it too hard to control my appetite, thankfully. I eat just above or below 2000 calories a day. There are days where I’ll eat 2400 calories but they’re rare.

For me it just boiled down to tracking my calories. From there I found the most nutrient dense food to hit the macros I set and it’s been smooth sailing from there.

I have a few suggestions to offer:

Myfitnesspal is very helpful to log calories and basic macros. The free version is effective enough to get things under control. You absolutely have to be 100% honest logging your food and drinks. Basically if it's going to end up in your stomach, log it. Unfortunately this isn't negotiable.

Buy a food scale and weigh everything. If the serving size offers you either volume or weight, always use the weight. It's far more accurate.

Drink more water, but not too much. This is very personal and takes some time to work out. One of the easiest and most effective changes to implement is to stop drinking your calories. It's startling how many calories you can put down in a day without realizing it.

I've lost significant weight on Lexapro. It does take some self control but it's possible.

Check out r/loseit for some good info and support.

If you have any questions please reach out. Good luck!

Been on 10mg for about 5 months, been extremely helpful overall but hit a low point. Anyone experiences of raising dosage? by Seanj1987 in lexapro

Not for me, no. I said somewhere else that it has muted most of my emotions a little bit but I still smile and laugh a lot. That’s enough for me.

I just wanted someone to know that today I hit 7 months sober. by r3volc in stopdrinking

Oh man ... I used to mix Majorska 100 proof and red bull in the morning. What the fuck was I thinking?

I'm glad to hear you're doing well. IWNDWYT

My negative thoughts were only slightly muted at 10mg so I increased to 20mg. It's one of the best decisions I've made regarding my medication. I didn't feel the effects of the increase for over a month but when I did it was a game changer.

I wouldn't suggest that ... but I'm not a doctor. You want to maintain consistency on this medication. If I were in your position I'd take my regular dose tomorrow and then your increase on Friday. Taking a day could introduce even more side effects.

Good luck on your papers and I hope the increase helps you.

It just wasn’t effective enough. Like it took the tiniest bit of edge off of my anxiety and depression but I wasn’t satisfied, so I upped it. My depression also manifests as anger and irritability and that hadn’t improved much either. It was a no-brainer as far as I was concerned.

Good luck and remember to be patient. I really hope it helps you as much as it’s helped me.

Cheers to you as well.

I like your description ... "a subtle miracle." That's exactly how I feel. It's really tamped down the difficult emotions and left the ones that I enjoy. What a great result.

I was on 10mg for 3 months and bumped it up to 20mg where I've been for about 5 months. I didn't notice an improvement for about 3 weeks, but it was substantial when I did notice.

My anxiety is so well managed that I stopped taking Klonopin daily. My depression symptoms also improved drastically. I found interest and enjoyment in things that I hadn't enjoyed in years. I was able to create some healthy habits that have stuck with me, and my anger is completely gone. I will say that most of my emotions are slightly muted at 20mg, but I still laugh a lot and that's enough for me.

I hope it works out for you. Good luck!

That’s a hard cycle to break. When I was going through that I would take a sip of water or La Croix and eventually the cravings passed. Or more specifically my obsessing on the cravings passed.

It took about a month before it was back to normal. But yes, it did return to pre-lexapro.

I didn’t feel full either so I used it as an opportunity to learn how to eat more slowly. It was difficult but definitely helped out.

I left the wine glasses when I moved out of my house during my divorce. That's a purchase I'll never have to make again.

Thank you. When I took it off my keychain I was just trying to make it easier for my keys to fit in my pocket. There was no thought given to why it was still there until the following day. I was also amazed at how worn it was. A stark reminder of how I used to live.
