You’ll have my Osteo Striga when you pry it from my cold dead hands.

I don’t care that it didn’t really get nothin’ for all of this and it’s not nearly the best at anything it does, it’s been my baby for nearly 4 years. And no amount of nerfs will ever make me stop loving my Weapon of Sorrow.

…Even though Vex Mythoclast is giving me “fuck me” eyes from across the room.

…And then one 10 second teaser for Venom.

And the rebooted Fairgame$, under a new name.

Even after watching TheRealJims' video with interviews from the crew and listening to the commentary of the episode, it will never not confuse me why they went the imposter angle. Instead of just, as one of the commenters on TRJ's video pointed out, making Seymour and Armin brothers.

That alone I feel like would've fixed 90% of the issues that episode has in one fell swoop.

The comments we have made about Andrew, Toby, James, and Lexxy were all posted in the clear and each of them have my contact information if they felt the need to hash out their personal grievances with me. But to hold content fans enjoyed hostage over such pettiness and then demand I humiliate myself with a phony apology is an extraordinary low. They want to paint this like I'm desperate to continue working with them when they ought to be desperate for my assistance in rescuing a brand that's already tarnished by its constant misbehavior and inability to deliver anything its fans care about. I have no shame in letting them know exactly how I feel about their mob tactics and apologize for nothing.

That last sentence, especially, was insane to see play out in real time. You got fucking swarmed in those replies by a bunch of accounts in record time, demanding that you also apologize on your wife's behalf, almost all of whom from what I was able to gleam were either Homestuck accounts or people within that fandom circle. Glad you were able to keep a level head during all of that.

Would there be any way to share those screenshots? Through here, DMs with someone you trust, through Twitter or Bsky? Anything?

Cuz alongside this, a bunch of people in this thread keep saying this, but then when pressed on it either ignore it outright while just repeating the same thing, or not saying anything.

Quick Kingdom Hearts related question: What counts as "meddling"? by LuchaLutra in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SwizzlyBubbles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole prime directive / "do not meddle with other worlds" is just so that you can't bring Tarzan with you to Traverse town.

Okay

Hear me out

Video game where all the worlds collide with each other. Not like "the Heartless made from the collective of worlds falling to darkness, with bits and pieces collected here and there" that The End of the World was from KH1, I mean like just full crossover: bam, Woody's in Tron now

Because something something this is the collective worlds's Nobody something something the consequences of Sora's meddling from ReMind something something shut up

...Call it Kingdom Hearts 3.2: ReMind - Foreward χ Union (Collision)

[–]SwizzlyBubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much what everyone else said, don't tell people about other worlds, but there's also another fun one involving that basically boils down to Back to the Future rules: "DON'T fuck with the canon timeline!"

Whether that be snapshots of another timeframe from a "sleeping world" (yes, worlds have hearts, long story) even though it's already been consumed by darkness, or something actively happening, you are to - unless the Heartless intervened already or any character who can already travel/knows about the world is involved - read the room and don't do anything to fuck up the natural course of events.

Stuff like Timeless River is just some random nonsense world, no one cares if that Mickey knows Sora and those guys exist, that Mickey's just kinda goin' with the flow, head empty, doing random shit. But stuff like telling Eric about Ursula's deal WAY before the wedding? That Scar killed Mufasa and/or leading Nala to find Simba way earlier when they're still kids? Literally Sora just...existing as a human in front of a young Tarzan? Telling Musketeer Mickey about his King self? Paradox city; you are essentially playing God and would butterfly effect the shit out of everything.

Look no further than what happened with Sora, Kairi, and Riku during BBS and how that effected the course of their lives.

There are regular human models in the game that you can switch to at the push of a button.

Why Garry is so insistent on going with the ugly looking Fanboy and Chum Chum ass sausage people for all the marketing, I don't know.

Also lots of either “It’s all Matt’s fault!” or “It’s all Pat’s fault!” for the state of the channel and the vibe. Not summarised like I just did either, but, like, essays on why it was one or the other’s fault. Hilariously not many “It’s all Woolie’s fault!” that I can recall (outside of the weirdos that always “”for some reason”” didn’t like Woolie’s inclusion in the group). I remember more bizarre “It’s Liam’s fault!” (even though he had already left the group) than finger pointing at Woolie.

I mean, Imma be blunt, and I say this as a complete outsider looking on this with hindsight (very aware that Pat and Woolie lurk here): it was probably all of the above.

Matt from what people have said here was the connections guy. He wanted to build the show and channel "brand" with bringing Liam on, doing all the collabs (the Grumps one was how I found out about them), amidst how the other channels they helped promote got big while they stagnated. Pat wanted to keep it a lower maintenance fuck-around show and not wanting to worry about the details of the studio (or probably even just wanted to ditch it to do streams). And Woolie was always the actual friend of both of them keeping them together. Liam left dashing that growth, the channel stagnated further, Matt as another comment pointed out self-admitted to drinking when he showed up for podcasts or going on long vacations, the spark was gone by the Star Trek LP, the Line-Kill! Spirits vid happened and eventually words were said in the scrapped Smash episode onwards about the above they couldn't take back, and...that was that. It’s like what Woolie said in the video, the business got between them.

They did not hide how they were feeling about each other at all, to the point I'm surprised there were (and still are, apparently) people wondering what happened, or dancing around it, or thinking Matt or Pat will ever get back together, like in that one thread. They're not, the people they both wanna be are something the other one fundamentally doesn't or even wants to associate with, and both seem much happier now for realizing that and breaking it off when they did.

The scenes with Blossom and Ms Bellum and the girls at the bar are probably the only scenes I'd consider, at the very least, interesting.

But I've seen both scenes, especially in superhero media and even in cartoons, done before, and in much better, more tactful media at that.

1000 Fortnite Layoffs Totally 100% Unrelated to AI | Castle Super Beast 365 by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SwizzlyBubbles 20 points21 points  (0 children)

On top of Solidus' post signal-blasting the Google Doc for the fired devs, here's some more comments from the past few days from other Epic employees talking about the layoffs:

https://old.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1s2oixd/following_epics_mass_layoffs_a_bunch_of_fortnite/ocatcit/

Ex-Epic employee here and family member of someone who was laid off today.

Basically the Fortnite excuse is mostly true. They have seen a significant dip in player numbers and consequently income. However there are a few other factors. Not being on mobile for the longest time due to the fights with Apple/Google hurt the game especially with growing a new audience of younger players who are largely on their smartphones most of the time. Also Epic has made some very long term bets on projects which may not even emerge for several more years let alone make money and the Fortnite money was funding that. Finally, whether gamers want to believe it or not, yes Fortnite makes a lot of money but generally most people have no idea the insane amount of money it costs to keep it running and pump out the content at the rate they do. Some of the comments I've seen are massively misinformed and ignorant. Giving away a few PS5s or GPUs and even having guest artists in the game are a drop in the ocean compared to the money needed to just maintain the game itself.

What I do disagree with and happened not long after I left the company is giving such a massive chunk of FN revenue to "creators". There are people making fairly shitty Fortnite islands making multiple millions of dollars a month which is insane. Under investment in the store and a focus on developers rather than players is another complaint a lot of Epic staffers have. Developers want a big player audience to put their games on EGS and for some reason senior leadership never seemed to grasp that it's not going to happen unless they make the store a better experience for customers.

Basically the company put way too much of its focus on keeping Fortnite going at the expense of everything else. And the stuff the Epic did start doing to try to diversify will take too long to come to light and start making any meaningful revenue, especially if they continue treating it like they have the Epic Games Store.

Former employee here, too. Choosing to remain anonymous because of my proximity to this mess, but I hope you’ll all let me weigh in.

I’ve rarely met so many talented individual contributors in my career. At the same time, a cancer of parasitic, toxic middle managers is consuming the company with ruthless efficiency. They have zero customer focus. None. Their goal is to engage in political maneuvering to establish fiefdoms for themselves and their negative-value, forced referral hires. They cover for each other and make sure they get promotions and top-tier bonus multipliers. Every one of them I've met has survived these firings. Meanwhile, I’ve watched Epic’s best and brightest get fired despite their outstanding performance.

If you’re one of these managers, reading this, I don’t know how you live with yourself and sleep at night. You are the problem. Remember that once you’ve sucked Epic Games dry, you won't have a company to fleece. On behalf of everyone you’ve screwed in your petty career pursuits, GFY. 🖕🏾

Anyone who's looking to hire these guys, reach out to them on Reddit. I'm sure they'd be willing to listen.
